many racers tend to pick the outlaw versions of the trackstar 13.5 thru 25.5 motors which are sold in a regular ROAR spec version too. then use the $50 defense. many clubs and racers will have issues with this. while they "may or may not" be slower than some racers $110 to 150 motors, racers with $89-98 approved motors will not be happy. using the $50 motor defense sets the doorway for other outlaw motors that are low cost to be used, then you end up with a 25.5 open motor class with different wire guages or double winds, etc

okay so no trackstar outlaw 25.5. but there are outlaw 25.5 motors out there and cost less than a non worked up or off the shelf ROAR or USVTA approved motor.

a motor claimed to be made to ROAR specs doesn't mean it's " ROAR approved 25.5 motor that is on the ROAR list" as for $50 defense...my term based on what i see laced thru this thread by others: as if because it's cheap, low cost or generic...it's okay

have to wait and see how that idea develops. And maybe for large events I could see a separate “ handout challenge class”. But I can also see heavy push back against it. And some unintended consequences for tracks. A track in my area has shown interest in the Can-Am series for the fall.

Actually the reedy 25.5 used in TCs isn't marked as anything but 25.5, the roar spec say it on the can and the number is different on the rotor, but if you don't know to look for it you wouldn't know.
