Try it with the battery forward.

Yes, it has a front one way.
Do they make plastic 2.0 toe blocks for a TC4 or do you have to pony up for the aluminum ones?
I also just bought a Spektrum DX3S so that may help. The Fly Sky seems to have a slight lag.

You have a TC4 that you're running VTA on carpet with a front one-way? I think that I would start with putting ANYTHING in the front and see how you like it (assuming, of course, that you haven't driven it with a spool or diff in the front before). In my experience, I could be MUCH more ham-fisted with spool in the front. I had a hard time developing the finesse needed to drive with a one-way. (your results may vary).

Hello, fellow VTA'ers. I need a little set up advice.
Below are pics of the track and my set up then I will discuss my issues.
The car is very stable and easy to drive. I have plenty of speed and torque. No one passes me on the straights and I have a ton of pull coming out of the turns. Where I get beat is the middle of the corner. I have to turn the wheels pretty sharp to make the corner so it scrubs a ton of speed and pushes to the outside allowing me to get passed on the inside.
The fast guys who are racing me comment on how close my car is. They tell me it needs freed up just a little. I just haven't been able to hit that magic set up. A fast lap is a 9.5 and my best is a 10.0.
So let's hear it. What do you all think?

You could also try adding some drag brake in small increments - with a one-way in the front, your car should initiate turns a lot better since you're using rear brakes exclusively.

I like how hard the one way pulls out of the turns. I had wondered about droop. I will add that to my list of things to try.

If you're under constant acceleration, the spool and one way will act identically. However, if you're in a turn and power to the front is disrupted (e.g. over a bump, or the driver lifts to adjust their line), the one way could disengage momentarily and give you a little more steering. Otherwise, both axles should provide excellent steering while on power in a corner.

Where do you get a one-way or a spool for a tc4.
I see some tc3 nitro one ways ... Do they fit? Do you cobble together tc5,6 pieces?

I know that my memory is not flawless, but I do not remember that being the case in the national rule set. (USVTA rules) Now I do remember some big races not allowing front one ways, but that was in addition to the USVTA rules. Kind of like lipo sak rules are at some tracks but not in the USVTA rules.

Another poor man's spool is to take the diff rings out of the stock TC4 ball diff and replace them with TC5 slipper pads. I haven't done it myself (yet. I have the parts), but I'm told that it's very much like a spool, but the slip under heavy load (like hitting the wall, etc while on power) is easier on gears, outdrives, etc.
