Hi everyone, so my club just announced an iRoc series where they will be racing USGT and USVTA. I am interested in getting into the VTA class and I am also just gettinging into the hobby after 15 years. What chassis are normally used in this class to be competitive and also what esc and motor?

Thanks

You’ll find a wide range of chassis being used. From low budget all the way to to Awesomatix. Both in USGT and VTA

I’ve got a Motiv 25.5.

It looks great. Handled like a box. Didn't hold up well in crashes. Out of stock pretty much everywhere.

Chassis - I'd try and find a used Xray (T4). I know there are some Xray guys from your track who can help get you up to speed.
ESC - Hobbywing Justock (budget). Or, pay extra and get a Hobbywing Pro Stock (not any faster but a lot more features)
Motor - I'd like to think most 25.5's are similar. Just starting out, I'd try and find a used Trinity XFactor, Motiv or possibly Team Scream (also popular at your track)

That looks like a great idea as far as race format. Good luck!

Got the VTA bodies mounted up. Still waiting on the BFG Tire Bird decal set, but we are going to try them out tomorrow night. Mounted on Team Magic E4RS4 chassis’s.

Two nice looking rides. Hope you can stay in front so the cars stay this way. We both know that won't happen. Lol. Good Luck in your races.

I am. It's a great body. Sits low and is light weight, only 97g with paint and decals.
Do you have a source on getting one? I'd like to have a fresh one.

Got the Tire Bird decals on today. I would say the firebird will stay decent looking as my son drives it, the Camaro, well it’s mine, and I’m nowhere as good as he is. LoL and my servo kept jumping out of alignment tonight, so I banged the walls a bit. Drove while simultaneously adjusting the trim the whole main tonight. LoL

Our USGT class has doubled in size since going to the spec motor since everyone knows they will be competitive motor wise right off the bat. I hope VTA follows.
I would agree with this. If your track has experienced racers running vta then motor choice is important. Trinity XFactors seem to give a power advantage at my track. If your vta class isn't filled with skilled drivers then motor choice is less important. This isn't just my observation either as the fastest drivers pretty much say the same thing.

We run VTA occasionally in our club. Medium grip asphalt. The HPI tires work better than the Protoform so that is typically what is run. However, looking for the 4793 and 4797 tires, it looks like they are non existent again. Is HPI going out of business?

I believe they already are. All discontinued.

I've got a few HPI VTA tires on black or grey wheels. All are used but still have complete tread. I think I have 8 fronts and 10 rears if anyone is interested make an offer plus actual shipping via DM.

I wrote to HPI, they are still in business and still plan to start making the Vintage tires/wheels again. They lost suppliers in Taiwan when Hobbico went under and they are currently developing new sources. They are hoping to start production by the middle of this year.
