Thanks and God Bless,
Interested in this as well... I'm in the market for some new batteries.. the rules say roar approved lipo, 7.4v up to 6000mah..... can you run a 7.6v charged up to 4.22v? dont want to buy anything that is technically illegal.

I need to update the rule, but most tracks have been following the ROAR voltage precedent, which is allowing the higher voltage batteries only charged to 8.4 V.

but how do the test the hv packs to get it to 6000mah. Is it at 4.22 per cell or 4.20 because that's a big gap and leave mah on the table

ROAR is 8.40 V, which is what most tracks are using. A 6000 mAh at 7.6 V nominal will be less than 6000 charged to 8.40 v. I'm not even going to try to make mAh equivalencies for 7.6v to 7.4v batteries, so go with the mAh rating on the label, period.

rob , couldn’t agree more , theirs 0 need to have a 6k pack to be competitive. The amp draw on a properly setup 25.5 is very low . In a 5min run only requiring 1100ish mah
the quality of the pack means more than mah in all 17.5 or slower classes .

The only reason someone should be using a 6k pack is for weight in my opinion. Is that the best way to weigh the car down? No.. but when you have everything you can fit stacked in the center then that might be your only option.

So why even keep the 6000mah max battery capacity in the rules? As mentioned in previous posts the higher battery capacity(s) is only serving as ballast if you need it. Also it opens up the battery spectrum for racers who dont feel like spending $100 on HV lipo's. As long as you maintain the 8.4v rule, it all balances out

Another reason a 6000mah pack is used because higher capacity packs tend to be more expensive. (And yes, I understand high end 6000 mah packs can still cost a lot).

Because racers that lose to cars with 10k packs will think that is why and waste money on a 10k pack

Default Need insight on cheating/ spirit of USVTA Rules

At my local club we have a member that's still using a Novak 25.5. I know for a fact he has realigned/ soldered his sensors on his board. There has been mention of him machining custom shims as well as other parts. His motor is stupid fast and recently this past weekend we had a very good driver install a 21.5 to test against this guys car. The 21.5 got waxed hard. I have been around the block for a while and raced at a few big events. I know what novak fast looks like and this is faster than Novak fast. With information above, would this be considered cheating? Rob and Myron I would like you to way in. An old novak should not be skull dragging a 21.5 let alone running USGT speeds on a big asphalt track. Most of us believe this guy is in the wrong. What's the USVTA ruling/ opinion on this? Thanks for any input.

The rule states that you must a ROAR approved 25.5T motor and the motor can not be modified in any way form or fashion. If it had then it is consider as an illegal motor.
