Default Why the pride...

between Rc companies? Why won't a company make a car with TC4's motor mount system, or JRXs shocks, or the Yokomo diff cover design, or Xray'ss external diff adjustments? The list goes on, but why not take the best of each design and put it all into one TC? This there a infringement clause that company could get in trouble? Ofna seems to copy other company designs. Just wondering. Each car seems to have something good about it.

because every single person would have a different idea as to what the best part from each car is

There are companies that make their cars out of different companies parts, they just aren't that big.

There is no garantee having all the BEST part of the different car putting together into 1 car and that car will be the BEST.....the equation is not that simple, nor not necessary true...

But for sure, that car will be expensive as hell.............kinda like Hirosaka edition of Pro 4....$1600 US each.

Default I'm talking about part design concepts...

Putting the TC4 motor mount on a Pro 4 is not going to change the car much. In fact it would be better putting a little more weight on the motor side. Just my two cents.

I know you may be speaking hypothetically, but these 2 features can not logically belong to the same diff.

Or can they?

There is a company working on an oval 1/10 pan chassis (that i will not name) and they have taken alot of the 'good' things from other companies, and designed some of their own 'good' things to it. Really, almost all pan car co.'s use the ae front end.

For some reason, there is a co., in fact, alot of co.'s, that will do it for oval...why not touring? who knows??!!??

btw, That oval co.'s chassis that they are testing, is hella-nice

Default All right...

then why don't we all give our opinion on what certain cars have a the best features about them. I'm interested in what others like about certain design features.

Might have something to do with patents (sp) too

There are few or no patents in RC stuff - coming up with something new is part of each company's hook. Look at XRAY with their "luxury" car (no options needed), Losi with their moveable diffs (on the JRXS) and sealed drivetrain (SW and XXX-S), AE with their shaft (TC3), etc. Basically, it's a selling point.

Personally, I don't see why some companies even bother with a TC - everything has been done and it's so expensive to develop a car that they may not even get a return on their investment.

OT - why would a company be working on a 1/10 pan car? It's a dead class.

A couple of peices of carbon fiber, 1 shock, 1 axle, 1 diff, and a little bit of plastic now fetches $400 for those cars.

Actually, the over-complication and expense of TC racing has actually spurred a bit of growth in the 1/10th Oval class. Anyone who quit racing oval due to expense, who has also run rubber tire touring car, can see that Oval isn't really that much more expensive.

if some manufacturer built a R/C car that was perfect in every way they would go out of business! because there would never be a need to purchase another!!! these companies make alot more money selling hop up parts/replacement parts than they ever do on a kit, and so do the hobby shops.

It really not about pride (I am sure that every company feels they make the best product!) but it's about making money. This is not an RC trend, it's a trend with almost every company in the world.

The same reason why Ford doesn't use GM motors in their cars. Parts on products from different manufactures are not supposed to be interchangable.

If they were you could by the parts you needed from another manufacture rather than from the company you purchased the product from in the first place.

If Associated made a car with parts from different manufactures...for instance the TC4 used Losi shocks..well then you could buy the shocks from Losi and not from Associated...causing Associated to loose money. Plus there could be additional liscensing fee's and all the other expenses when using someone elses technology.
