if you dont mind me asking... why the switch?

i see the photon ex and wildfire are on similar target price points. im on the fence over these two cars at the moment trying to make my mind up for next payday for my winter carpet car.

pm me the answer if it would be better incase it might be disrespectful to the threads

Anybody have a setup for running spec 17.5 on med grip carpet? The box setup doesn't have nearly enough grip in the rear, plenty of steering though. I was thinking of trying some softer reflex springs. Any other suggestions?

I have yet to run mine, but I'll try.
Do you have the 1mm roll center shims in? If yes take them out. I think the manual said to put those in. Also if you think it has plenty of steering maybe you can make the front less aggressive.

I have a brand new in box VBC kit for sale in the for sale section. Check it out, save a little money and buy mine

Take a look at this post. Either one of these setups should get you very close

I started building my wild fire yesturday and I have 2 questions. I was installing the screws on the chassis for the bulk heads and I never heared the screw click or felt a click. How tight do they need to be? Also the carbon peice that I see in the pics on CRC web site for the steering bellcrank is that an option part, I see the instructions don't show to install the part but its just there on the next page that shows how to install the bellcrank on the chassis.

Not sure what click you are trying to hear when tightning a screw.
As for the carbon bellcrank is a option part.

On the web site the description for the car says the screws are designed special so they click when they're tight.

I have never been able to figure that out either. I have never heard anything click on all the cars I built.

a few of my screws clicked....but not all...
it was not a big deal..
two sets of screws that must be secured and checked after the first couple of runs are the upper bellcrank screws...and the diff bearing holders....

note: I found found marking every other yellow notch on the bearing holder with a sharpie helps set the holders evenly.

Picked up this kit tonight... half way putting it together, pretty nice so far. It seem a few of the Horsham guys have picked up the kit too, so it's nice to have someone else at my local tracks running em.

Much to my surprise, the Xray gear diffs don't fit the VBC. Can anyone tell me if the Xray gear diff gears/outdrives will fit the VBC gear diff housing? Was hoping I could save a few bucks and just pick up the housings and move the internals over..
