Just built my f1 ultra last night and ran it for the first time today. First impression is very good before even really dialing it in! The conversion really hooks the car up and let's you get the power to the ground. Before I had to ease on the throttle exiting corners or it would just diff out and loose drive. With the f1 ultra I found that I could get on the gas much harder earler and the car just launches hard from the apex out! It's so hooked up that it seems slow but I was running some of my best laps. Also mid corner corrections are effortless now. Plus its beautiful, blue anodize and carbon fiber is a great combination.

It's next on my hit list. Has been since it came out. It's time.

Let us know how it turns out. I have an F103GT than can use the Ultra conversion to PBLS.

Mine has been performing reasonably well. Initial issues with rear traction seem to be sorted now. Car is definitely quick. Really shows on higher speed tracks.

Needed:
Softest roll spring (3.75lbs)
Softest pitch spring (m04 gold spring)
PS-0545 with thin inserts. It's too cold for the PS-0542's to work.

Update on the f1 ultra:
I now have a couple races with this car and many practice packs at mikes hobby shop, home of the 2012 carpet nationals. Been making adjustments and spring/oil changes almost every run and this car is simply amazing now! My donor car was a very stock f103 that ran really well and my best lap on the current layout was 12.4 and that was only once. Avarage lap was more like 12.8. After the f1 ultra conversion that has now been sorted to my liking I pulled off a 12.1! Best of all it is way more consistent and I can average a full run of 12.5's so overall during a race my results are much improved thanks to the f1ultra!

Keep up the great work Mike R!

Just was inspecting my car and noticed something wasn't right. Turns out the roll damper was broken (the disk on the shaft was broken off). Looks like perhaps during certain corners the disk was getting pushed against one end of the damper. Not sure for others but I never felt the roll shock was working properly. Just seemed to not have enough travel in it.

Have replaced it now with the tamiya roll damper as it allows for more travel. Feels all nice and smooth now moving left to right.

F1 ultra had a great outing at round 1 of the Texas electric onroad series. Was having a little trouble chasing set up all day racing rubber tire on asphalt. The track was completely different from round to round. Cool morning to pouring rain then re prepped track and a hot afternoon kept me on my toes. I had the only f1 ultra in a sea of tamiya and trg plus one very fast f1 built and piloted by the owner of rc shox.

Got the car working really good one round and was on pace to re set TQ but I got cought up in a pile up where one of the track barriers blocked my path and my chance was gone, had to settle for second on the grid.

Traction was completely different in the main and my car developed a bad push that I had to drive around by nailing the brakes in every corner witch looked impressive but was not the fast way around the track.

Ended up finishing second and will be better prepared next time I race outdoor. The ultra got tons of attention in the pits and pictures should be up soon on texaseos.net.

I may turn my F103 F1 Ultra into a Lemans car with rubber tires. Does Tamiya still offer Lemans style bodies that will work/fit on the F103 chassis? I wonder if the new bodies that were released for the RM series car will work?

The Toyota TS020 GT1 body has been re-released and is currently available--I bought one and have it mounted to my F103. RC Mart has the TS010, Jaguar XJR, Minolta Toyota 88CV reproduction bodies on their website.

RM series bodies are 12th scale as far as I know, so I don't think they will fit.
