We(my racing team) have been using this book to tune motors. It's true, he does repeat himself alot, but only because of the relevance of the info. His brush alignment ideas are proving very useful. We took a motor that was a little low on perfomance, and got 2k more RPM out of, as per Jim's suggestions, we've been pleased with the results...

The info can be useful, but its all availible elsewhere for free. The brush hood alignment trick was something I was doing yrs before I read the book.

The most interesting stuff, is on motor theroy relating to arm saturation, mags, can design, and wind design. Its good to know but it is useless to me.. why??? cause I am not a fcatory sponsored driver, I can't get a motor built to my spec for every track I go to and I can't afford it either. So that leaves me with what is comercially avalible like everyone else. Try as many different motors as you can and use the ones you like. Everything else about tuning can be found on-line for free.

I think The book is perfect for the beginer all the way to the somewhat advanced driver....... IMO reading endless pages of internet material to get what your looking for just plain sucks, not to mention there's a very limited amout of people that know what there talking about , and Jim happens to be one of them........ it answers 90% of the redundant questions everyone still askes about electric motors.....all the way from beginer to advanced..........I have a like new copy That I'd let go for ten bucks + shipping........PM me if interested........Joe
