6. LONG SHOT: A generic setup sheet holder that stores in a db on the Palm....This is a big undertaking but I am thinking about it if I get enough feedback for it....
This last one would be great, if you got enough interest in it, you could even charge a small fee, $3-5 per download, one way you could cover your time and effort spent in developing such a great program

Rob,

Right now I only have a Palm, so yes, it only works on one....I am looking into aquiring a PocketPC or borrowing one as I already have the dev environment and a general idea on how to make it work, but I need one to actually test on, if I get one I will port the code over....

I have begun researching the setup part of the software and just need to get a better grasp on the DB part....

I will be adding a couple of features soon to the existing code that have been sent as suggestions.....the best so far that hasnt been implemented is to have a button where you not only get your rollout, but if you change the pinion +1-2 and -1-2 teeth what effect that would have....

Thanks for the feedback, keep it coming...

John

Blackcat....

I was thinking about your question and my first thought would be maybe if someone could figure out how to use the IR beam and to track when it is broken....maybe with a flag on the antenna???

Someone earlier had mentioned the orion lap counter.

Does it use ir to connect to the transponder? Most PDA's have IR built in. The range is not usually far, but it is there. I am not certain how wide a beam it would have though. You wouldn't want it to pick up and register a lap before the car passes the line. Also, do you really want to leave your PDA down at the track while you race??

I have been looking into this on the PocketPC side of things, but i don't have access to the orion system (or any lap counting system for that matter)

Karen.

Does anyone know if this application can be constructed in Excel? I already have the spreadsheets for rollout and gear ratio on the iPaq but an instant "What pinion do I need would be cool too"

Thanks

It should do inches or millimeters now.
