The 2012 Snowbird Nationals: 01/31/12 - 2/05/12
The 2012 Snowbird Nationals are returning to Orlando next winter and we hope to see you here for the 18th annual event! The race dates are January 31st - February 5th, 2012 and will feature indoor carpet road and oval racing once again. The race schedule is posted online along with the race location page, which includes dozens of exciting links to attractions in the area. The Snowbird race week is more than a race, is a great family vacation too! Last year attendance was the highest in several years and provided some of the most competitive racing we have ever seen at the 'birds! Expect more of the same in 2012!
HOTEL NEWS AND EARLY BOOKING BONUS:
As we have done in prior years, we have worked out some specials for the Snowbirds staying at the hotel. The hotel has new owners and they are offering even more this year for you if you book early! If you book by 09-30 you will get a FREE upgrade to a deluxe room again this year ($10 a night savings). So just book a standard room and they will upgrade you for free! And new this year if you book by 09-30 the hotel will give you 2 FREE breakfast buffets! This is $20 in free food this year just for booking early! Call 407-396-1400 to make your race reservations. And as in the past, the hotel has waived the resort and safe fee for Snowbird guests (this is usually $8 a night added to your rooms). More good news too is the rates have been kept the same as the last several years at $89 for a standard room and $99 for a deluxe room. All the hotel information is on our race site.
If anyone has any questions please shoot me an email at rcthunder.aol.com. Race classes and entry information will be out in the months ahead.

Mike,
Is there any chance that John from fastcats will be back again?

I'll ask John this weekend if he'll be going. I was under the impression that he is planning on it. There were a few FastCats regulars at the track a couple weeks ago talking about going this year. I'd love to go, although I'm not sure if I can do it yet.
EDIT: I forgot to reply after the weekend, but John C. said he will be going.

Questions....
Couple of questions:
1. I see they have not posted the "classes" yet. Do they run a USGT type class usually?
2. I also hear the chatter about VTA. Anyone know for sure if they will be running VTA?
3. Anyone from the Chicagoland area making the trip South? I am thinking about renting a car and going.....?
Share-A-Ride/Drive anyone?

VTA Class
To the folks organizing the Snowbird race: Just thought you may want to know....
Here in the Mid-West, we just had our race finale for our Asphalt Assault Series 2011 at Leisure Hours Raceway, in Joliet, IL. During the 5 race point series at 4 different tracks, we had a total of 49 VTA cars participate. At the series finale we had 34 VTA cars show up! 3 groups (12, 11, 11) and 2 Mains (A + B, 17 cars in each) and "everyone" had an Outstanding time. Running 17 VTA's on the track at once was Awsome.
And ALL of the VTA Cars were running VTA Rules (not ROAR).
I think I can speak for the Mid-West contingent and hope that you decide to run VTA at your Snowbird race, and run it under VTA Rules (i.e. 25.5 Motor etc.).
