Default Tamiya 104BK No Throttle

Hi all,

I have TT01E months back and kept idle for a month before I pull it out yesterday.

Connect the battery and turn on, no beep sound, and only the steering is responding, no throttle. Found the ESC red LED flashing 3 times in a roll:

***-***-***-***-***-***....... none stop.

I tried to reset the ESC accroding to manual, but fruitless. First press the reset button, the LED suppose to flash continuously none stop, but it still 3 flashes repeatedly.

What else I can try?

Thanks.

Are you running lipo batteries? Is there a low voltage cutoff on your speed control?

The manual that comes with the car would be a good start.

Try charging the battery. If it is the low voltage cutoff that is blinking the lights, it is doing that for a reason; to protect the battery from being over-discharged. You can kill a LiPo if you over discharge it.

Maybe the ESC isn't arming because it doesn't see neutral? Did the throttle trim on the radio get bumped?

Is the Esc flashing a code? If you have the manual you may be able to tell what the Esc doesn't like. As an experiment you can disable the low voltage cutoff and see if the car works. Do you have a multimeter to check the voltage on the battery to know if it is really charged all the way up? Also, like Joe said, make sure your radio is properly calibrated to the Esc. The Esc instructions will have the procedure.

recharging the battery now. The charger do have indicator the voltage on lipo.

I checked the manual, it do not have flashing code for 3 flashes, and I cant find the indication in google too....

the transmitter is new, so the neutral position is alright. Plus, i just cant get the right flashing as manual during the setup. it just 3 flashes no matter what I press.

Anyone know what does it mean for 3 flashes???

Have you calibrated the transmitter to the Esc? The transmitter being new doesn't matter if the Esc can't recognize full throttle, brake, or neutral. What model Esc are you using?

I try to calibrate as in manual,

- remove motor cable
- switch on transmitter
- connect battery
- switch on receiver (it suppose to beep and flash once, but mine no beep and 3 flashes repeatedly)
- press reset button (it suppose to flash faster, but mine still 3 flashes repeatedly).

So I cant proceed anymore.

Thanks to CarbonJoe for the manual and ESC data.

Updates:

I disassemble the ESC and found burning on the circuit board.

Original TEU-104BK cost about USD35 here, china brand's cost ard USD25. But I was advise not to continue use Lipo battery with it, even it is support, but high chance it will toast the ESC again.

So I upgrade to brushless system, cost me ard USD90.

Conclusion: Even the ESC have power cut function, dont use Lipo on it!

Thanks guys!
