On any surface, do you guys usually sauce front and rear tires full and tune around that, or do you sometimes sauce say half front, full rear to gain or lose steering?

yes, no, maybe!! It depends on if I sell all of my TC stuff after Vegas or hold onto a TC for the HC. I also still want to do the TCS race at TWOH so maybe I'll get a EvoV or another 415, but with a diff!!!

Xray FK04 with BMI 350 chassis. Long story short-I am fastest with this older TC for some reason and so I went back to it and am immediately comfy and runing well with it. Of course I have to run with Goetz, Herrmann, Wise, Chicky-so me running well is always a relative term....

That car is basically a 414M2, which one of the Wisconsin boys went back to and is much more comfortable with it. He had an Evo 3 Surikarn and (my old) 415. He could bever get as comfortable with those. There's something to that "Polar moment of inertia" thing in a saddle pack car.

With all the possible tire/insert combinations why does it seem all the big races require a handout tire like the premounted Takeoff 27's? Do they do the same with foam or do people use whatever they want? I'm just curious cause I think rubber would be faster if we weren't limited this way.

They spec the rubber tires to keep costs down. When you start experimenting with inserts it can get costly

Boy... I remember those days... you had 4 different tire compounds with 3 different foam inserts in each compound... and maybe a couple of different rim types..... big money Spec premounts are the ONLY way to go in rubber racing

We are having this problem now with the choice of any tyre/insert wheel, i have decided on a sorex 28 tyre for the series as these seem to work and i think i will use the jb foam inserts but does anyone know what thickness of insert seems best for the sorex tyre on a std 24mm wheel i would say thick as sorex usually have a large airgap but if anyone has found anything else please share your findings.

Well-I am back on my rubber tire kick again, this time with much beter results.

I am curious to know how you guys rotate tires? Since I run half dope on fronts and full dope on rears, will a run or two after a good cleaning-swapping frnts to rears be doable?

Also-I assume rears last longer than fronts so its possible to make rears fronts-at least for a run or two after fronts are in the trash bin?

Also-I was told the RP30GL's have a limited number of good runs on them. Does it help to let the tires rest a long time between runs-or doesnt it matter. Last time I ran three runs within 45 minutes on one set of RP30's and I think the last run (though my fastest by a big margin) I was starting to feel the tires start to lose grip. This is on new CRC fastrack.

I never really rotated mine on carpet, for club racing i marked the corner of the car it came off of and always replaced them there.

At an outdoor race this summer we were running on a banked track, we could not rotate tires (if we did the car had 0 traction)...strange but it got me in the habit.

I've heard that as well. If you reverse the rotation of the ire it wont have any grip but you can swap from front to rear as lonf as they stay on the same side of the car.

Seaball - Not sure on the swapping with different levels of traction compound. Sounds like your gonna have to try it out and let us know.

The reason rotating tires doesn't really work is due to the insert. The insert shifts and breaks down slightly faster on the tires that would be the outside tire at the end of a straight or any highspeed turns
