Because of the transponder mount, my vote is a Pro 2

Looks like an original RS4 to me.
Its a Pro 2. The velcro battery straps and battery trays are removed. The biggest give-a-way is the plastic transponder mount on the top deck. The other facts are the purple hardware throughout. Most important, the Pro2 rear axles are straight from the outdrive to the hubs.

The RS4 Pro (First Pro version) had axles that were swept back from outdrive to hub.

The original RS4 (very first car) had a belt front with gear drive for the rear.

on the main chasis there are 3 cut outs on each side the size of a single cell and at each end of the cut outs there are 2 slits for straps

don't recall the original pro to have purple anodized parts... My friend's pro looked similar my pro2, but I clearly remember it not being purple.
My pro2 came with the stick batt mounts too. I raced it with my 2000mah nicd sticks so im pretty sure.
I still have it on the shelf...

don't see why someone can't design a race purpose TC using saddle lipos... history can repeat you know.

Im sure it can be too...LiPos are lighter so you dont have as much ability to take advantage of the weight distribution that you would with NiCd and NiMH batteries back when this car came out
