the surface is a little abrasive, but we are trying things now to get the grip levels up. so i have been happy wiht the performance of the Sorex, but now our Nationals are over, it seems the shops now have stopped ordering in the tyres. so we have to fend for ourselves again. just looking for other options thats all, comparable grip levels that may last a tad longer than the Sorex.

Best tyre on the market, feel like the old discontinued Muchmore absolutes but last very very long.

Why would you need a substitute tyre when they are available locally?

we had nothing but issues with the MM tyres. we used them as the controled tyre for our state titles. and it was a case of who didnt pop tyres had a better advantage.

so thats why im looking for other options now. just after feedback of what may be a similar option to the Sorex thats all.

I've tried them back to back on an abrasive surface. The rides are easily more durable. But it took longer for the tires to come up to temp compared to the sorex. The rides seem to get better as you run them though, which is the opposite of sorex. Overal I preferred the sorex 36, to the ride 36. I'll try them again when I get my warmers, because of the duribility it might make the ride a great practice tyre, or qualifier. Sorex was worth 2-3 tenths on fast laps though. That could be me being more comfortable on the sorex.

thanks guys, i got 2 sets of the Edge tyres over Chrissy, they almost sound the same as the Rides, i didnt have my warmers, it took a good 5 or 6 laps for them to start working, but also the track was dusty. but they seems to show little to no sign of wear after one run, where as the SOrex would have started to scrub the left front after one run. so ill get a few sets of Rides, and compare. Cheers.

Did you even read my post?

They feel "like" the "discontinued" Muchmore "absolutes". Have you run absolutes? If you are referring to the WA states tyre you were running the Muchmore VPM.

In other words, there is no issue with the belts and they'll be 1/2s faster than sorex on the WA track.

to be honest i couldnt make sense of your post. your offereing a choice which is discontinued ? then say why would i need a substitute. substitute for What ? if you read my post, you would realise what im saying about the Sorex.

For your info , yes i have used the MM absolutes, and yes we still did pop them here. the new Tyre, VPM were even worse for us. we havent had any tyre from Sorex pop, we ran to canvas and even had the inner tyre open up, yet they still didnt pop .

but now you have broken it down, and i have read it few times over. i think i understand what you are saying now.
so you are refering to the Ride RE-36 to Feel like the Absolutes, which are faster than the Sorex ? is this right ? Im a Dumb ass, you have stated it before, so it takes a bit of time to register what you were saying. Sorry for the Confusion Mr McPhee.

I've never said that, but I thought you were asking what tyres you could run that would feel like the rides - my mistake.

For feel/grip/lap time they feel a lot like the old absolute. They have a bit of movement in the same way, so not as stable as sorex, but faster. And no issue with the belts, I've used them at Moorebank where the VPM's can pop, and they had a bonus of not overheating like sorex/muchmore can out there.

cool, thats what we sort of need. did you use the Sweep OG tyres at the Femca ? i have been tryign to go back through all the events of last year, to see what was used, and feed back from compettitors. i just want to stick with one tyre that is easily sourced, wether local or not. incase locally nill stock. the OG seems hard to source, and not even on Sweeps website. so far Ride is a safe option, the Edge tyres i havent really tested at length, but if they take a run to comeon, then may have to crank the warmers up. Cheers.

I haven't tried edge, but the OG's are slow, don't feel great, and wear out fast

It is our new tyre for the 2012 season, some lads tried them last year with good result lasting/grip, this is to replace the Sweeps that were dreadful, we tried the Sorex and it seems even if they were also way better than Sweep's, that they are not as long lasting as the Rides.

Have not tried them yet as we are on the winter break at present but will soon.
