Default Battery Boosters - your experience?

I recently picked up a used Torpedo battery booster from Integy.
Anybody have experience with these? It looks like you fully charge the pack and then connect this unit for 5 minutes prior to the race for extra capacity and punch......do they whack out the batteries or limit their life span?

It works but I my track has a little problem with starting each race ontime so I end up loosing what the torpedo does for the cells. I will only tell you that yes it does increase punch and voltage but I belive at the cost of cell life. I usally don't use mine unless I am running some practice packs or running the A-main as I don't want to abuse my cells. I have had mostly good results from the Torpedo.
Hope this helps,

The torpedo is best for Ni-cd batteries. Nimh batteries increase IR if you repeak them. You may gain runtime, but you'll lose some punch. For Nicd, it works great and all the pro-oval guys in the spec class use them at my track.
