Default Endurance racing?

I was watching some Le Mans Series and Blancpain Endurance Series races on youtube and it got me to thinking. I seem to recall back before the brushless motors became the norm that there were some endurance races (some 2.4 hours and I think a couple actual 24 hour races in Europe). What do you think the chances are with the new motor and speed control tech to have more endurance race type events for World GT or touring cars?

We have had a 24 hour race of our own the last 2 years(24 heures du Jackson), and if im not mistaken, the mastermind of that event is putting together an enduro series for the east coast for 2012. We aran (and I believe for the series are planning on running) spec TT01s with silvercans, for cost reasons. Not to bad to replace a stock TT01/silvercan vs a full on TC/BL system

We ran a 24hr race last summer in the UK at the same time as the 1:1 Le Mans race. It was supported by HPI and the entry fee of 150 included the sprint 2 car, shell, speedo and motor.

We ran Saturn 20T silver cans the biggest issue with them was brush wear they only lasted about 2 and a half hours my team won the event but we used 11 motors doing it, it would have been cheaper to run a cheap brushless system we are looking at something like a Hobbywing Justock and 17.5 for this year.

Race report can be found here http://www.rc-area.co.uk/2011/06/14/...-by-dez-chand/

We run a yearly 1000 lap (around 4 hours) M-Chassis Endurance race every year using a Hobbywing/Turnigy/Yeah Racing brushless system. One year we used silver cans and we didn't have any issues with motors or electronics and since we switched to brushless we haven't had any issues. Its quite a fun race!

Our team has run several endurance races. All brushed with the Carson Cup machine motor. They last about 4~6 hours depending on drivingstyle, run in methode e.g.
The 24hrs at Andernach wich is organised by the "daddy" of the ETS Uwe Rheinhard is also with a brushed motor. The've considerd a brusless set, but because it's outdoors they will not prever a brushless set, due the rain. Brushed speedo's and motors are much more "rain protect" then a brushless set.

Regards Robert

at my local club, we have endurance rounds, with 3 people per team and that's about the only regulation we have, its up to the teams to decide when to swap drivers and such. We usually swapped when someones battery went...

I've always wanted to see (rather be a part of) a mixed-class enduance race, something like a World GT-USGT-VTA-Mini (not necesarily all at once) race, similar to to a real LeMans race... You'd need a big track to pull it off, something the size of Leisure Hours in Joliet, where 1/8 onroad is run, and alot of courtesy out of drivers when it comes to cars in different classes getting past, but I bet it would be a blast.

I think if its mixed class theyd have to be all at once...but that being said, it would be a fun thing to try. I had bandied an idea of having a Woodstock like event with endurance events for the wide assortment of onroad classes some time ago when I was young and stupid. Imagine having a 60 minute World GT enduro, a 2.4 hour mini enduro, a 3 hour USGT enduro, a 3 hour VTA enduro, a 2.4 hour 12th scale enduro and wrap up with a 24 hour endurance classic to put a bow on it
