Looking at pics and video, even if they shorten the straight, its still huge, probably over 150' and the lanes are wide. Even though I ran vta at last years nats, with a 21.5 on a smaller track it felt slow. If I can manage to swing this race I'd much prefer to have some 13.5 or 10.5 option as well. (2s WGT 13.5 would be fun)
Trust me, we did that in one of the races... you want the full Straight in... (Yes, even in VTA) I know it is a long for some classes, but they can make a 180 getting onto the straight way.

As Eric said, they ran 18 VTA in the main and this was GREAT...

This is ROAR Nationals, not a Leisure Hours-specific trophy race. Racers from clubs all around the country will be coming in, most of whom race on tracks not remotely as big as this track. We will have enough to adapt to as it is.

Standard classes, please

Really looking forward to this one.

Exactly like you said...it is a ROAR NAT....it is a big race and it is at a big track, not some parking lot converted track. And this is not something you can find on every state. That's why it should be used the full track instead of the water down little electric version.

20 cars or even 25 cars main for 15 ro 20 minutes main is what I am looking for. Anything less is just uncivilized. LOL
At least 20 car mains for VTA.....

But really (not that ROAR or the track will go for this) the track and driver stand can support 20 cars on the track at one time. This would be great for VTA and USGT.... I would even say 15 for TC 17.5 Stock.... But that is me....
I agree too each main should be 15 to 20 cars deep...if there was ever a track that could support this idea...this is it....that would be awesome to see. Think of all the cars that could peel you now or you could peel....

If I can have 2 margaritas instead of 2 beers I'm in 110%!

+1 Thats what the thinking around the track is. No since in reinventing the wheel at this point.

I was part of the VTA main last year. The peeling was so intense I forgot who peeled me which time! At the end I wasn't sure where I finished but I couldn't help but smile! Best day of on-road racing I've ever had....even with a "slow" car!

To be specific the Asphalt Assault from last year had 34 VTA entries. Thus they ran 17 cars in each A and B mains. And yes, it was a sight to behold !!!

Added, in reference to VTA only, the track layout amounts to a 500ft + straightaway, since the trigger is squeezed all the time !!

I'm not sure if you are pointing out about the large track or the number cars in a heat.

If it is the number of cars, We are playing... I can tell you, on this track, it would be NO different then 8 or 10 cars on a small track. But with all that said, I'm 99% sure that ROAR will run the standard heat size. Just think you could had a class or two more if we ran more cars per heat... but again just thinking outside of the box as On-road has been taken a Bobby Brown Beating for the past few years.

As far as cutting the straight away down, this would be a terrible mistake, the track flows in it's current format. (with the full Straight away used) When they cut the straight away down for one race, it really did not have a flow.

As in any form of racing, track size does change, so come and enjoy the Talladega of RC.... (I'm sure we will have Ricky Bobby here also....)

This is one of my favorites. Just had to post it up again.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oH_GN0CBvqA

The video actually shows two tracks. The first is one of the more popular parking lot tracks in the area and the second you will recognize as Leisure Hours. My favorite part is the car jumping the curb at about 1:35 into the video.

Good Lord, NO! Don't cut down the track! For any class. I just do not think the classes we have should be sped up. We seldom get to truly leg things out. There's already a ton of speed in a 17.5 Stock TC. Or in a World GT with a 13.5.

I'll admit to being in a complete lather to come race on that slab of epic awesomeness. Plus, I lived in Chicago for three years and haven't been back in ages. I'm going to Cafe Iberico for some jug red and tapas, then the Checkerboard for some tunes, and maybe Lincoln Park for a stroll before that. I'm buying plane tickets this week
