Ivan, I know you put that picture there specially for me.

However, if Speedzone ever brings back the saddle 1s, I will be on the hunt for more RSX parts.

Here is a picture of one of my old T-plate cars from a few years ago. When lipo first came around I modified my car into a pivot ball car. It worked really well i just had to put weight behind the battery near the back of the chassis towards the pod.

I still see more T-plate cars that are not getting any love in FS forum. Somebody please make a saddle 1s lipo to bring these cars back. Suspension wise there is nothing wrong with the T-plate. It just went away because of lack of support from battery manufacturers.

I can't promise anything just yet but I will look into what it will take to bring back our 1S saddle lipo.

With the recent advances in lipo technology producing smaller cells (ie shorty lipos), I would expect the possibility of a more compact 1s saddle lipo that would be less bulky.

If anything, a 1s lipo would bring back the T-bar as an option for chassis design other than everything having to be the link style suspension. We need more choices.

Again, when has 1/12th scale ever been a beginner class?
Um, when it was the only EP class and everyone was a beginner.

Apart from the problem with getting T-bar cars going, the issue I'm seeing with 12th at the moment is that it is pretty much the only class where you can't use your existing packs from other classes to give it a go.

What would people thing about allowing half of a 2S saddle instead of a 1S pack? I mean we allow this on club days, it's not an issue, but at a higher level than that, is there a good reason why not?

p.s. half of a 2S saddle fits up the side of a T-bar car more easily. And if you get a light weight one like a Venom then that makes things even easier.

As a racer who was active in the late '80s/early '90s, I really like this thread. I was away from R/C until a couple of years ago. As you can imagine, I have several cars on the shelf that I would like to see get some use. It does not have to be racing, just for fun is fine. The 12L, 10L, 10LSS need to be exercised.

I have gotten some good ideas to investigate so keep the thoughts coming. We have an occasional WGT class [occasional due to lack of participation] where I might even be able to race the 10LSS.

I think it is a good idea to encourage folks to bring out the old timer cars [to go with us old timer racers ]. Who knows, maybe it will lure some prodigal sons & daughters back into racing.

I don't think anyone would have a problem with it, but if you are racing at a high level then you are much more likely to be running a 1S pack as the higher capacity gives you more speed. Here in the UK there is nothing to prevent you using half a saddle pack as long as the battery is on our battery lists.

At my club one of the racers is experimenting with the very cheap micro 2S lipo packs designed for 1/18th buggies, with slower 21.5T and 17.5T motors. Being much smaller it's much easier to balance T-bar chassis with the battery on one side and electrics the other, with plenty of space to add weight to bring it up to the minimum. Whether it would work at other clubs depends on whether the clubs are willing to do everything to try and attract old racers back to the class.
