Default How many people run 40mhz in the US?

How many of you guys use this channel selection, and out of the people who use this channel, are licensed to use it?

No one inthe Us is licensed to use 40 mhz. Those frequencies are reserved for the Department of Defense. The FCC will give a $10,000 fine and take all of your radio equipment if they catch you.

John Malin: is correct...

Only ground bands in the US are 27MHz, 75MHz & 50Mhz(6 meter) if you have a HAM license.

Some of the cheap RC's also use 49MHz.

the only reason i asked was because my father is a licensed ham radio operator, and he told me that the 40mhz band could be used as long as your a licensed ham operator. O well.

If you have your ham ticket than you are allowed to operate on 52 mhz.

I know several Ham licensed racers that have check into this and they are running 40mhz legally. now I know a bunch more that are running it illegally along with the split 27 channel and the freqs below 26.995 which is channel 1 in the states. I don't know of anybody that's running 72 or 52 air freq in a car but I have heard of that happening.

I do know that 40 is illegal in the states regardless of ham ticket or otherwise.( except 49 for toys). The legal 50mhz chanels are at 52 mhz and are for either surface or aircraft use. You can check with the FCC about 40 but I am relatively confident that i got it right.
