Default difference in the tamiya 416we and 416X chassies

Ok guy, I got 2 416x chassies for pretty well nothing($$) and in prefect shape, now I want to change my WE chassie and put on the X chassie insetead. How much of a difference is it and modifications have to be done to convert it over? Dones anyone have a template for both chassies and the mods that have to be done to make it compatable. Thanks

Paul

If I remember the X chassis (Lower deck) will just fit on the WE. The trf416x top deck won't fit however, but the WE one will still fit. The TRF416x does have a longer front belt but it's only one tooth more so the we belt will still fit.

Chassis plate will fit.
Topdeck won't because bulkeads from 416X are different to the 416WE.
So if you want to fit a 416X chassis on the WE you need the top plate of the WE.

regards Roy

Ed is the man to ask bit IIRC...

X used symmetrical bulkheads so to convert you need X top & bottom decks, rear bulkheads and rear belt. TBH I think the original 416 was the best of the lot so if you want to run that all you need is the original bottom deck with the battery in the stock position

It's been a while since I was a 416 man so apologies if I'm wrong on any of this

who, me?

Actually, the X (and LiPo) chassis plates had the holes for the 416WE and original 416 bulkheads. The main difference was with the front, as the front bulkheads on the X had a wider mounting point.

You only need the X top deck if you wanted to use the X centre and rear bulkheads (as the rear diff was moved back 3mm, ad the rear top deck screw mounts were altered).

Or in otherwords, the X chassis plate is a direct replacement for the WE one

HiH
