I think the switch was a good one. He is a world class driver. Losi has competitive off-road vehicles where Yokomo does not. I am also sure this this switch was not purley about racing either. I have talked with Billy a little in the past when he worked for AE. He wants to do more than just drive. He wants to be part of the R&D of these vehicles.
I am 100% confident that he wanted to be more involved with all aspects of RC and not just racing. I cannot see Yokomo letting him be part of this process other than racing.

Good luck Billy!!

Yes, he did drive Yokomo off-raod when he was with AE. The porblem was Billy's a 2wd specialists and Yokomo doesn't have a 2wd car. While they do have a 4wd car, it's not as competitive as the Losi.

I'll try to put to sleep some of the rumors. Yes, Billy was going to drive the AE buggy at the next worlds. From what I was told Billy left yokomo after he felt the deal he received was different from the deal he was promised. Yokomo is sad to see him leave but under the circumstances I can understand why he left.

This makes a lot of sense if you look at the rest of the Losi team. Not saying anything bad about any other teams, but the Losi guys are among some of the nicest and most approachable in any pit area. I've only talked to Billy a few times, but he seemed like a very sincere, honest, and soft spoken guy. He was very accomodating and approachable. I'd say he seemed a lot like Matt Francis, Hodgimoto, Lemiuex, etc. or from other teams PW, Adrian, Dave Jun, Greg Hoddapp, just to name a few. From a business and PR standpoint this is a great addition to ANY team.

I talked to Kinwald at last year's Novak race and he was very nice. He took time to answer some of my technical questions. He definitely didn't have the air of snobbery that you might see from some other pros. I agree that the Losi guys are some of the most approachable in the industry.

I'm wondering if there is dissention in the ranks at AE because Mike Reedy retired.

I know that if I was to have a factory deal I would want to be in on the R&D side of it as well. Hell I already have a blueprinted engine of my own design I did when I was 16. I'm hanging onto it for when I try to become part of a R&D team for a car company. knowing people have something out there you help build is way cool.

Masami and his dad are basically the Engineers at Yokomo and have been since Masami started racing for them. Masami created YMP as his "pet project" to market some of his own designs and improvements. I don't know what his dad did before then, but they must be one killer design team.

Im courious as to what AE is up too. I have inside Info that Cliff Lett of AE purchased three 7.5 Kani editions, Makes me wonder if they are thinking of 1/8th scale, or are they just X-mas Gifts...lol
