I assume you're running TC but in 1/12th, most of us are running Tekins in 13.5 boosted but there is one guy with the Viper and he is very quick.

We have run the RS PRO on every track in Melbourne for the last 18 months with both 17.5t and 13.5t.We have never ever considered buying a different brand of speedy, there has never been reason to we brought the best from the start and still have best now.

For a possible unbiased opinion, you would need to ask someone who has used both. And even then, it is only an opinion.

I havnt felt the need to be with anything other than the RS Pro, I am more than happy with it.

The hotwire updates are Tekins way of listening to racers needs and helping achieve them.

You need to figure out what meets your needs as a racer, and your wallet.

The track is the place where you should find some guys where not only you will get an opinion, but also be shown what kind of results each ESC are capable of.

I'm not here to flame the thread, but at the same time, some things are better seen at the track IMO...

happy racing!

No it isn't. Racing Viper products i must say to you this:

Go for the brand that gives you the best trackside support, either LHS or drivers. Both are Top quality guaranteed and durable.

I keep going back and forth. I need something for 17.5 stock, i can't decide on the tekin RS pro or the Viper VTX10-R. i am leaning towards the viper, because of the proguage and beefy bec, but tekin has a very good history.

Once the track adopts ROAR rules, ESC will not matter anymore.
I would make sure your racers are not considering to jump on the bandwagon first...I bought an RS pro, and my club adopted blinky...

I own both and Race both.
Both have their unique feel out of the box.
RS is very punchy and feels agressive.
VTX10 more precise power control feels smooth but not as darty.

Through playing with ther settings both can be adjusted to feel like the other.

The major difference is FieldControl unit.
RS needs a Computer to fine tune ur ESC easily.
Doing it through the LED is a pain in the ass.
The VTX has both options. At this point it is up to you, how you want to be able to
program the unit, if you have a Laptop u can pick both, if not get the VTX with a field programmer.
The programmer is not your avg hobbywing programmer, it will tell you numbers and what you adjusting on display.

Also the RS uses a Plastic case vs the more metal one from the VTX.
Though the RS is smaller. Also the VTX has the caps nicely tucked away
on a board. Though its a bit bigger also. So on this count the RS is smaller.
Though remember the RS has no heatsink and when it does go hot,
the sticker will look all ugly. Where as the Viper has a more solid,
non discolorised case with a bit more weight which doesnt crack as easy as the Tekin.
If you need space use the RS, if you want more metal get the VTX.

Cut off of both ESC are different. The Viper will get you back to the pits, via Pulsing.
The Tekin will not or just turn it off and it will ignor lipo cut off.

Tekin ESC has LED to tell you some data, which the Viper does not.
I miss the temp data from the Tekin on the Viper.
Tekin will always blink how hot the ESC is.

Boost wise they both can achieve the same, now achieving them with using less power.
Thats where settings an motor choice comes in. Also Tekin has been refined their boost.
Viper is not any worse, with its last update,it's as powerfull as the teking.
Though Viper gives you a different set of number to adjust. All ESC call their boost Turbo
something else RPM Number sec etc etc.

I understand the Viper more so over the Tekin where some numbers make no sense to me.
But i can get the same performance out of both escs. I like the visible LED Data from the tekin.

I like both and will race both =) gl doode, with ur choice !!!
Both will make you happy.

PS: the tekin is able to sensorless the viper is not

I have raced both and still own both. super easy call +1 viper. Better programmer (portable) , The tekin does not mesh well with high voltage servos and does not play well with spektrum radios and RX's (brownouts). Making the Viper more versatile with more combos of servos and Radios that you can use without potential issues. Also the Viper has adjustable bec.

The above ipearl breakdown is very fair and I agree with his assesments.

I have had the Viper and had it not just stopped working I would still be using it. I loved how easy it was to program. I just wished it had not gone out. I bought an Rs Pro used on the cheap other wise I would be running the Viper. I wouldnt mind going back at some point but I have 3 Rs Pro's and a hotwire.
