Yeah I don't think balancing is a concern, I do recall having to use a lipo sack...

Since I am striving to be AE's "Drew Ellis" we'll have to talk technique at this summer's Timezone Gran Prix... Nitrostock if you will....

"8.3.2.5.5 Batteries must be charged with chargers that have balance ports, using only the balance mode for charging, or an acceptable alternative demonstrated to the satisfaction of the President and/or Technical Director. Charging without balance mode and without a balancing harness is not permitted. Simply connecting the harness and not using the balance mode is cause for disqualification. Only 1S 1P batteries may be charged without balancing, as it’s only one cell. Any packs consisting of 2P and/or 2S will require balanced charging or approved alternatives.

Balance charging ensures that each cell within the pack charges individually to full capacity. Non-balanced charging may inadvertently overcharge one cell, and undercharge the other. Under these conditions, the risk for battery failure is greater, or at least you will suffer from reduced performance."
guys, don't take the following wrong although I know some of you will....

just cause its a roar rule, doesn't mean it has to be followed or enforced. a variance can be asked for and granted

This is part of the battery approval process not a rule!

Per the rules update May 26, 2011. I guess they weren't enforcing it!!

As such it is a new rule. As our track is getting ready for a regional we are carefully reading the currently published rule book and all of the updates. As skypilot stated they do not have to enforce it but they could. Also as it is written, a external (not a port on the charger) balancing board does not satisfy the rule.

First and foremost I want to give a very special thanks to Mike Darnell and his hard-working crew for bringing the ROAR Carpet Nationals to Texas, putting together the best carpet track layout and making the Carpet Nats a huge success.

.

Also I want to thank Mike Darnell for changing his mind about ripping out the carpet to replace it with a dirt oval back in April 2011. If he didn't change his mind we would have never seen this awesome ROAR Carpet Nationals in Texas or, for that matter, VTA racing at Mike's Hobby Shop.

Here is an online picture album of all the pics I took during the 2012 ROAR Carpet Nats. Take a look at the pics and tell me how I did.

It was fun watching the race on Live rc.

One thing that is disappointing abou the above picture is 2 people that obviously knew they were coming to this race for a long time ran all white bodies including the winner of the A main.
