As far as Tech Inspections go at the ROAR Carpet Nats, expect to have every detail of your car inspected. It is very important to get the hardest inspections (e.g. Motor, Battery, Body, and Wings) out of the way as early as possible on Friday, March 16. The motor must be completely disassembled when you bring it to the Tech Table. After the inspector measures everything on and in the motor, you must fully assemble the motor in front of the inspector. Then the inspector puts some tamper-proof dots on your motor so that during the race all they have to do is look at the dots to see if you have opened up the motor post-inspection (which would immediately disqualify you). The batteries must be measured both dimensionally and electrically. They will check the voltage to make sure the battery is not "boosted" in any way. The body and wing must be within the max width limit of 190mm and there will also be a maximum and minimum height for the body. Typically the inspectors will have a rectangular box with both ends open. They will insert your car with the body and wing and it must all roll through the box without catching the sides while inside the box. I hope that helps.
Thanks for the info. I know the ROAR drill on motors, bats, bodies, etc. I was more concerned about F1 specific rules. Will the be an F1 body and wing approval list, etc?

Any word on the 14 day rule?

Thanks,

Troy

Pretty sure you can register at the track for the warmup. I know there is a flyer, but don't think there is an online one.

Troy, I've asked a couple of local ROAR Race veterans and the consensus is the 14 day rule does not apply to F1. As long as the car is no wider than 190mm, has F1 rubber tires, a non-timing ESC, a 21.5T motor, and a 2S Lipo battery, then it's good. I still don't know if ROAR will have an F1 body/wing approval list.

Cool, good to see ROAR letting this class figure itself out.

This goes for you Ian, and anyone else thinking about making the trip:

Please feel free to call me if you need something or have a question. My only goal is to make this a memorable event for everyone. I have been driven around, put up in a room, loaned cars and parts by far too many of y'all not to help in any way I can. My number is on the website under contacts as well as the mobile site. E-mail works too.
