Default Novak Havoc 2S with Trinity Monster Locked?

I'm building an F1 car to run in a spec class at my local track. The spec motor is a Trinity Monster Locked 21.5. There will also be a spec ESC but they haven't come in yet. I took my Havoc 2S out of my VTA car thinking that it would work fine until the spec ESC came in. Now everything is hooked up but when I turn it on all I get is a sequence of flashing lights on the ESC. According to the Havoc's manual it will only work with thermally protected motors. Does that mean that this speedo will only work with Novak motors? I never had this problem when I was using my Novak 25.5. Does anyone know if the Trinity Monster Locked motors are thermally protected? I've done a few searches both on here and google and I can't find an answer. I've also checked Novak's website but didn't have any luck there either.

Do you have your sensor wire plugged in correctly. I've got a D3 trinty and running single cell with the Havoc Pro SC with no problem. If your ESc will not reset try switching to another sensor wire. If it still does not then send it back to Novak. Ask for the new upgrade to the X Drive version.

I've tried two different sensor wires. I still get the same sequence of lights flashing. According to the manual the lights mean a problem with the blue sensor wire (???) or the motor is not thermally protected. Maybe your Havoc Pro works with a wider range of motors? I'll email Novak on Monday to see what they say.

Thanks.

well I believe you have a early addition of the 2 s havoc that does not support any other motor than a novak motor. you will need to upgrade your esc by using the trad-in program with Novak or use a novak motor.

I believe you are correct Cookie. I found this on Novak's website:

MOTOR COMPATIBILITY
The Havoc 2S ESC and motor contain Thermal Overload Protection circuitry to protect the system from overheating and damage. In fact, the ESC will only operate with brushless motors that have built-in thermal protection that follow ROAR guidelines, such as Novak’s SS Pro Brushless Motors (#3408 - #3421) and Ballistic Brushless Motors (#3608 - #3621) This sophisticated feature ensures a fun day at the track without the worry of overheating. For the complete list of compatible motors, click here.

I'm going to contact Novak to make sure. It's not a huge deal. The f1 class at my local track has a spec ESC that should be in this week. I was just hoping to be able to run the car sooner.

When you send it back make sure you include a letter of what's wrong. Make sure you trade it in for the newr Havoc Pro SC with "X-Drive".
Since ya'll are running F1's I've got a used F103 just stiling they quit racing them down here.

We just added this new esc (Havoc Pro SC with X-Drive™) to our exchange options.
