Saw this first at the Tamiya Worlds... looks like it's based on the Orion/Peak V2 platform.

AdR|aN 12-08-2004 10:33 PM

Actually it is the same.
This motor is launch to replace tamiya original 11t mod motor.

MO3 TRF 12-08-2004 10:36 PM

yep, its just a matter of time before people start buying the design off team orion/peak.

fantom have come out with a V2, now tamiya (they use exactly the same endbell)

fantom are a copy of reedy motors so i dont think it will be long before reedy come out with a V2.

also, i think trinity will be out with one pretty soon.

IMPACTPLAYR 12-09-2004 10:38 AM

Fantom doesn't produce motor parts they just buy the can, endbell, and armatures, then they wind the armature to their specs and put their own brushes in it.... they use EPIC (trinity), YOK (reedy), and TOP (orion/peak) motor parts..... So I doubt just because Fantom releases a V2 derivative that means that Reedy will be jumping on the V2 bandwagon.....

REEDY has their own competent team of motor designers and I seriously doubt they will be buying anything from Orion/Peak.....

raving-monkey 12-09-2004 01:56 PM

fantom are an exact copy..well not exact but just about a copy of reedy motors so i just got the idea they might.

everyone copies the latest thing....like before what we see as normal endbells everyone used sealed can 540 johnson thingies didnt they.

then yokomo came in with "old style" (as we see it) and everyone else bought their design and before you know it everyones motors look the same....i think the same will happen with the V2s.

only time will tell.

HMMMMMM !!!

wonder if they would make a V2 19t version .... could be the next step as 19t seems to be a popular class ....:sneaky:

PizzaDude 12-09-2004 10:39 PM

They allready have one!
Seems it is way durable, but slightly less on speed compared to some other 19t....

EddieO 12-09-2004 10:48 PM

Fantom buys OEM teardowns.....they don't produce a motor.....so saying they are copying stuff is dumb.....Fantom has the advantage of being able to use whatever is the hot item....

So in the end its not a copy....it IS a v2....it comes from Orion, I get mine from the same place, so does Tamiya.

Three companies in the US actually design and import a motor.....(soon to be four with Checkpoint, and five with me)...Trinity, Orion, and Reedy...........and if you think Reedy is going to copy the V2, you are nuts....Trinity just came out with their new motor and it doesn't look anything like a V2....

Eddie

Do you EVER sleep?!
LOL (man you're online 24h a day)

The Orion motor and the Reedy are both manufactured at Sagami, aren't they?
So the base (can/mags) are about the same type.
Only real difference is the V2 endbell, which to my knowledge, is being manufactured elsewhere.

Or am I mistaken?

EddieO 12-09-2004 11:07 PM

I don't sleep very much...but its only 11pm here......and it always says I am online, because I never log out....I just leave my laptops on all the time...

And yes, both motors are made at sagami.....with the exception of the V2 endbell, which is made some place in Europe....

The cans are not the same though.....I am pretty sure the magnets are, and the arms are the same.....I can buy a Reedy Ti/Pt arm.....and its the same as the v2 arm or vice versa....

PizzaDude 12-09-2004 11:13 PM

OK
That just about sums up my thought about this.

Where will you be manufacturing your can and armatures?
Will you also be getting your own brushes manufactured?

Regards,
Pizza
