For Drag races I would say sensored, last thing you want at the christmas tree is cogging.

For speed pass it wouldn't matter.

MMM First gen and Revised gen are good.
There are 3 generations that you want to stay away from, if opened up they have specific redesigned boards. Blue, Green and other colored boards, that have different layouts.

The MMM does it job nicely for a decent price tag.
Though MMM system is not so smooth as the Tekin.
I would Choose MMM for Offroad, Drag Race or a Bashing environment.
If you need precision go with Tekin.

Now the Tekin had its own problems.
Mainly Fan (Not so robust) gets destroyed in off road application if you crash and race a lot and get crashed.
There is a generation out there that the board was suffering from cracks. The PCB was too thin or not dense enough. Identification of them tend to be Black or red Heatsinks.
You can find the info of these on Tekin Website. They tend to warranty these.
Then there is a very small batch out there where the Sensor board doesn't operate correct due to feed back issues of the motor.

BOTH are great ESCs, you just have to figure out how to stay away from the black sheeps.

Another ESC to look into is the 8th scale Silver Arrow by Speed Passion.
Cheaper than the above and does the same work though the ESC is fairly Large.

Another ESC manufacture to look at is also the Viper RC System, they seem to have a very high standard similar to Tekin.

I had my share of ESCs...

If you plan to buy new.
Look into Viper RC esc (1 year warranty)

Tekin are easy to get used and identified

MM i am at an unease state due to cheapening out on later batches
If you can over come the black sheep This is a good ESC for price.

Speed Passion Dirt Cheap and it works but if you have issues be ready for some long RMA shipping time
