I can only hope that we get some people to start running this class at THE GATE!!!!
That's awesome, I actually meet two guys out Toledo at the Track for the UF1 series.

I will be starting my Exotek F1 build at the beginning of the week, I was going to build the car with the speedo in the rear but after seeing Sykas car I am having second thoughts. Can someone please tell me the handling difference between having the short pack in the middle of the chassis vs having it towards the rear of the car. I will be running indoor carpet. Thanks

I have a quick question, what battery are you using? It looked like a CRC from the phot but I wanted to be sure.

Anyone have any input on how 574 F3 soft, 579 R3 Soft Pits will work on carpet? I ordered some as I just can get a consistent handle on the 571/572 set.

I use 571/574 on the carpet in dallas. The F3softs work just fine for us. The 572's work good but they glaze in a few laps and become useless. We are on pretty old ozite and only use black can paragon if that makes a difference.

I could not get enough steering out of medium fronts and have no experience with R3softs.

The 574's almost give me too much front grip and the car needs to be set up carefully to avoid traction roll. But once its dialed in the thing is on rails for 15 minutes.

Great, I can dial out traction roll. I agree on the 571s. I went from traction roll to push in 5 laps. Then the rears got full of gunk off line. From that point on, the car was a boat. Its frustrating because my FGX comes off with no buildup at all.

Hmm. I noticed the same thing about the 572R. It gets gunk all over it. But I didn't notice handling become compromised. 571F stays relatively clean.
I will try 574f/579r combo next time since I have those as well. I will also test 574f/578r and 573f/578r combos if I have time.
I use SXT 3.0.

Do you file or sandpaper new tires at all?

I take the mold seam down with sandpaper, then clean with WD 40 or simple green. I stay off the contact patch so I don't accidentally flat spot my tires. I prefer SXT 3.0 myself.

The building our club is in have the heat off when not in use, so the concrete under the carpet stays at whatever the ambient temp of the air is through the week (50 or 55). We only use the building 3 days a week. The track surface does build up some traction, but it usually takes half a day of heating for the surface temp to change at all. Traction is very dependent on tire temps.

I really miss being able to just drop in and lay down some serious laps.

I got an f104 v2 and wondering what extra parts are needed to make the f1r conversion work?

If you have a V2, the rear pod is not compatible. The conversion is for the original F104 T-bar car and you will need that pod type. All the front end parts swap over directly. The only other recommendation is to use the current roll damper instead of the 2 way shock that come in the F1R kit.

The only major different set up one can do to f1r vs f104v2 is the steering system.
I run both f1r and f104v2 set up similarly and they both perform well.
I would not convert f104v2 to f1r.

Good day!

I would just like to ask if anyone here experienced some stiffness of the pivot ball when mounted on the Exotek delrin arms? I did the proper preparation of lubricating the balls before snapping it. I have no issues on the other arm. How could I resolve this? I even soaked it on a cup of lub to loosen but to no avail. I don't want to take the ball out for I might damage the delrin arm.

I emailed exotek about this. Haven't got a reply yet. TIA.

I had the same problem on my FGX exotek arms. I used sandpaper to grind away the balls. And used another finer sandpaper to polish them.
