Hi all

Will the new Yokomo BD5 gear diff fit? the Old Yokomo MR-4TC BD Grainger Edition.

or where can i get diff for the car.

or will HB cyclone? or TC5? will fit.

i may be wrong, but from my memory i'd say no. here are some specs on the bd5 diff since i happen to have one next to me but i don't have a mr4tc here. There used to be a wide rear belt too, this isn't that one. I am using this in a tc6, and the tc5 is not the same size.

let us know

overall width: 50mm
width at bearing: 21mm
overall height: 40mm (40 teeth)
short side to the middle of the belt: 18.7mm
long side to the middle of the belt: 31.15mm (you can see these don't add up to 50, but its close enough)

It should drop straight in, same pulley size and width between bearings.

I have tried this, however you need to use a shorter universal in the rear end, otherwise it has positive camber. I do not recall the length of the standard dogbone, however the BD5 uses a 44mm rear.

Perhaps a BD5 rear universal will work. At the time I was in a hurry and decided not play around with fitment and fitted a rebuilt ball diff.

A BD5 ball diff works great and drops straight in. I use my old BD as a wet car and currently have my BD5 ball diff in it. It has TiR worlds universals and all I had to do was put some BD5 blades on and away it went, perfect.

Hey guys,
I am working on a friends yokomo bd, and he is in need of a spool.
I was wondering if it was worth getting the roche spool for it?
Will it drop straight it?
And is there anything else I would need.
The bd is completly standard

help would be much appreciated

Yes, Roche is a good long lasting spool. It will drop right in, nothing else needed.

Also is there any other bd5 bits that will fit straight onto the the bd?
Any good hop-ups I mean.
I'm not very keen on the standard hub carrier part SD-4134, so was wondering if the new bd5 ones fitted

Sd-4134 are junk. I switched to BD5 c-hub and steering knuckle, much better handling. You need to buy the BD5 hubs, knuckles, kingpins, and 44mm universals for it to work.

Or the cheaper route is to buy hpi pro 4 c-hubs, they fit the old BD knuckles no problem. But you still need to buy the pro 4 steering bushings and ball studs for that to work.I will post pictures of my conversion tomorrow when I'm home.

Oh and the BD5 steering rack bolts right onto the old BD. Just get some longer turnbuckles, 43mm I think.

Hi RCTECH guys.

I just bought an used Yokomo MR-4 TC BD, and this wast set up for drifting. I want to use this for touring, and therefore need ball diffs on it. And like the guy how started this thread, I can't find the spares for this old Yokomo model.
So from what I can read, I can use a ball diff from a BD5 model, right ?
But some of you are talking about some different 'rear universals' ??? what's that...
Any how can help a new beginner like me with this, and maybe even post some links from where I can get the parts needed.

Would you recomend ball diffs in the front also for better steering around conners ?
