Default orion 3300 RDS questions

i bought a pack of these orion 3300 RDS cells and the numbers on them weren't as impressive as i was hoping. i would like to know if i just got a lowsey pack.
SPECS
442 secs
1.166 avarage voltage
4293 mW/h at 30 amps
3.1 internal risistance
the specs arn't bad or anything, there just low for the price they are because i race stock touring and i was disipointed in the voltage and internal risistance because i had read somwhere the voltage would be around 1.175 and better and the internal risistance should be lower then that. can you guys tell me some specks of your orion 3300 RDS packs that would be great and let me dicide if i want anothere pack or 2 or by a diffrent brand.

The Voltage looks low but the run time is high so its tuff to say, the internal resistance seems a tad high as well...its unfortunate that orion and others desided to go to a different mathcing system that does not allow a fair comparison to others matched packs. Not saying there is anything wrong but you can not compare apples to oranges nor can u compare orion to other matchers now

My SMC packs from over a year ago are:
410sec
1.187v
30amps

SMC does there cycles at 30amps liniar dischage no special or majical software. CE TURBO matchers that give out average voltage at a constant 30 or 35amp discharge

By the way CANADA RC can get your local hobby shop SMC packs.

i wasn't really comparing to other packs, i was comparing a 3300 rds to a 3300 rds pack and thought the numbers were low from what i had heard and was hoping if i got another one the numbers would be up to par with what i have heard

oh i understand what your saying. But those numbers are still low, Orion uses LAVCO matchers which are known for yeilding higher "numbers" then CE matchers. In other words the same pack matched on the 2 different systems would show up appearing better on the LAVCO matchers. The new RDS system they use again should yield even higher numbers because they are doing a "RACE SIMULATED" discharge witch as i understand is supposed to be timed and variable amp load.

But like u say it would be nice to see what other RDS packs are rated at.

Per Orion/Peak.. they haven't used LAVCO in a while.. all new stuff is done on CE matchers.

mcc-bri.. what level of Orion packs are these? Team pack or Race pack? I've seen Team packs range from 1.17x to 1.19x

1.166 @442 sec is good pack though, I'd take that over my 1.175@400 sec pack.

Yeah, that actually looks like a good modified pack with those runtime specs. Save it for that, and just use your higher voltage packs for stock racing.
I will never buy another pack from orion or any other mainstream rc manufacturer. I like the local matchers because, it just seems like you get what you pay for with them.
However, I did get lucky with some trinity VIS batts that I bought a couple months back they are 1.177 and they really seem to scream. The rest of my packs are fukuyama, and my pack that is sitting in the drawer, in pieces, in my team orion!

I have the Team Orion 3300 SP1 cells. The numbers are:
1.189-1.190v @435-440sec
I got them for $60/pack.

Yeh, I have similiar sorts of numbers as Micros.

I have only just bought them like a month ago and I have SP2 packs, 2 of them.

1.184 and 1.182
2.7 IR on both packs
435 and 442 seconds of runtime

I'm pretty happy with these current cells, and they are all that I am using for Stock racing for the time being. I will be getting some better cells from Surge though soon, so watch out!!

Yeh, they do vary quite a lot. I have actually seen some 1.199 cells, Orion SP2s. Pretty damn awesome I say. I didn't see the IR though, but I'm sure that would've been REALLY low!!

I have been using the Team Orion RDS as my exculsive race packs for a while now. The run time you have listed is good. The voltage is way low and the IR seems high.
Before you go out and buy another pack and wonder how good the numbers are, you know you can see the numbers through the little cut out window in the package? You can see the numbers of the first three cells in the package if you try hard enough.
I hope you didn't pay too much for that pack. That is really not a good Orion pack (for stock that itsn't that good of a practice pack, unless you are dailing in your car or messing around).
Typically, you can get really hot Orion packs (1.188 - 1.198's) for around $65.00-$70.00 each.
In my experience and on my Turbo Matcher, the numbers on Orion packs are closer to the numbers used by other matchers than most think. Some say that an 1.188 orion packs is about as good as an SMC 1.180 pack and this is simply not true. I have 1.180 SMC packs and my Orion 1.180-1.183 run just as good if not better. There is no pack that I have ever seen that can come close to touching my 1.195+ orion packs (unless it is another Orion 1.195) including about 5 1.188 packs form other popular matchers. The nice thing with Orion, at least in my area, is that great packs are easy to find and they cost the same as other matchers.
I thought my Orion 1.195 packs were the best until iI bought some 1.198's.

I have two packs of Orion batteries. SP eddition.

When I got them, the lables read 190 455. They were 2 4 cell packs. all 8 cells read the same lable. What are the odds????

I will tell you what the odds are. Prior to assembly, I put them in a friends trusty turbo matcher. The best cell that came off was a 1.155 425. The worst... well you can imagine. Now, I ran these cells twice, and since then I have them filed in my junk box, ready for my lathe box, a very expensive lathe box.

I will never purchase a Team Orion battery again.
