Default Will this spur fit an HPI Pro 4?

I've found them all over the place online, but nowhere can I find what it fits. It appears that it will work. I'm setting my Pro 4 up as a VTA car, and need as tall a gear as I can find for the 25.5 I'm planning to use.

I know that when I ran mine I used an 88 tooth spur and that was getting kinda small.

Well, unfortunately the "decision makers" who created VTA, decided on a crawler motor. So to get the speed back we just gear very high. Seems silly to make people buy new motors when we're just going to gear them right back up to speed.

This spur looks allot like the ones I buy for the car. I was hoping somebody would recognize it as one that will fit.

I thought we were suppose to run spurs as our pinions

I would think the above stated 80 range, with maybe a 40 range pinion would be adequate. Do you know the drive ratio of the car?

2.4375 is the gear ratio for the car. You'll need to be in the 50's as far as pinions go to get it in the range for VTA.

Last edited by Kregger; 10-19-2011 at 07:52 AM. Reason: fixed gear ratio

One of the guys I race with is at or near 1.1 on his pinion/spur in his TC4. Another guy running a TC3 had to get a 50T spur(48P) so I'm pretty sure this is what I need. I see where Robinson racing makes 50T and larger pinions. So I plan to get one in order to keep up. Right now all I have is a 98 spur(64P) and a 44T pinion. I'm certain its not enough. It was great with an old brushed 19T we ran at our old big track. The new track is smaller, but the back stretch is nearly as long. So I need some speed!

I would just look at your options on your FDR of the car. But definitely do not go with 48p, its just so loud and offroad-ish..

I'm def planing to use 64 pitch, that's what's on the car now. Here's the TC4 I was talking about. Its black and gold:
