Gee Dub one thing that I did this summer was test drive freq. and how it affects brushes. A fellow racer was running the same car, same gearing even the same battery, tires...you get the point. The only difference was I run the old LRP Quantum and he runs the KO speedo. We used a 10 turn flat wire 4 magnet motor as a baseline. He would burn up the brushes and score the com every run. I ran the motor and got 7 runs on it before I had to cut the com and then the brushes were still good. They were small but not discolored. We looked up our drive freq and he copied the quantum's and he was in buisness. This is one thing people dont realize and they are burn up motors all the time. Just as a rule of thumb if the motor comes off hot but the comm doesnt look too bad but the brushes are purple....too much timing. Ultimately you have to expiriment and try things because how hard you push the car will have a factor too.

Lathe: 100.00
Brush Serrator: 30.00
Few sets of brushes: 20-90.00
Mod motors: 60.00 each usually 2

Total, with only 2 mod motors would be about 370-400.00 dollars to simply RUN mod-class.
Stock or 19 turn
Lathe: 100.00
Brush Serrator: 30.00
Few sets of brushes 20-50
Stock motors : 40.00 each usually need 4 or 5
Dyno: 500.00 - 1000.00

Total w/ 5 stock motors and $500.00 dyno motors to simply run STOCK $880.00

Sounds good to me. Even without the Dyno stock is more expensive.

BTW, your math doesnt add up.
