Hey guys, i need some help with charging my 3800's. I've been told to charge them on profile Peak-1. But i'm only getting 3200 into them. When they are charged on other brands of chargers they are getting 4100-4200. I just want to know if that is the right profile.

Thanx

4400 @ 6.0A (peak @ 8.0) Delta Peak 03 I also changed the long lock out from 10mins to 30 mins. It made alittle bit of difference but not much.

I also tried a CTX Profile from the Nexus racing site.

Step 1
3050 @ 7.0A
Flex Off

Step 2
3080 @ 0.2A
Flex Off

Step 3
5000 @ 5.5A
Flex Off
Temp 48
Delta Peak 05

I got about 3500mA into a IB3800. Yet on other chargers the packs get low 4000's. I noticed the pack got alot hotter when charging though. About 44c.

Dose anyone have any ideas as to what is going on?

Your Delta Peak is set too low if you are not getting a temp cutoff. mah in really is directly related to how far down you discharge as well. The cell master is really sensitive to the delta peak settings. I would turn up the delta peak until you start getting temp cutoffs and then back off a tick or two from there. Depending on the weather conditions you may need to adjust the delta peak.

Anybody here uses the cycle function of the Cellmaster? I've used the cycle a couple of times when my batts slept for two weeks of no use. The CTX cycled my batts. Twice charge and twice discharge. Then I placed them on the Zero-V for an hour before charging for the race. It seems normal after the cycle but it didn't actually made the batts any stronger.

What do you guys do for cycling your batts?

So what sort of cutoff would you use as a general starting guide.

I used a delta peak of 30 with a temp cut off of 48c and still no difference.

I use the cell master to discharge my packs then i put them on a smart tray.

I never cycle my batteries. I believe is just waste of their "life"
If I know I'll jot use them for sometime I just add some mah and leave them. Before race discharge them and use them

Instead of cycling I note my input Mah. When I see a 10-15% reduction from what a pack took when new I start to get run time problems in open mod. I then sell them off cheap to local stock racers who can get months more use out of them. If taken care of IB cells IR's and voltage don't really change. You only lose run time so used mod packs are a GREAT deal for stock racers. They can run 10 min with packs I can't run 5 min with.

There are many discrepancies on the charging mAH between different batches of IB Batteries. Not all batches were "true" 3800's...some were better, some were worse. Even still, all of the batches seemed to behave differently during charge:
On an early batch, I could get 4300 into the battery easy. Only a couple of months later, the newer cells were accepting lower mAH...closer to 3700-3800. This occurred even when the runtime of the cells differed only slightly. It must have something to do with the nature of the cell. Towards the end of last year, the mAH seemed to rebound some, but not all. Now, it seems that the run-time has come back to some previous levels, so charging mAH may be higher again.
If you tray the batteries before charge, you will get plenty more mAH in them during charge. Charging at lower amps (or CTX charging) will also allow you to get more mAH into a pack. 44 deg C is very close to ideal peak temperature.
