If your running 2mm+ shims on the bulkheads and using the plastic outdrives, IMO you'll most likely break them as the pin on the driveshaft does not sit far enough into the cup. I've seen them break with 1.5mm shims on the bulkheads as well but less often.
The cheapest option for you is to shim out the outdrive by putting a washer in between the outdrive and where it connects to the spool. You'll need to grind the washer into a square-ish shape as so that it will fit into the spool part.
Of course you can also get aluminum outdrives that use blades.

just to contribute: I currently use the 50mm ECS and at one point, broke the pins. Instead of buying flat pins or any other kind, i cut from an old xray stabilizer (hard) and used it as replacement and had no issue since

Dialed! I wonder if the holes in the caps are large enough to fit XRay mounting hardware without modification?
I've had to replace my bladders due to swelling or tears in the XRay shocks on every rebuild. That's $10-12 to rebuild shocks.
