Default homedepot/lows carpet

hey im looking to do a a small track(1/18 40x15) with a few buds and was thinking of picking up some cheaper out door carpet from hd/lows. will that work?

Varying results. The 'grain', for lack of a better word, on some of the will cause the cars to weave about.

I have used their gray indoor/outdoor carpet for Mini Zs (1/28 scale RCs) and it works very well.

I thought another big issue was the static discharge caused by using that type of carpet?

Is that possibly not a problem now with 2.4ghz?
