before doing any setup you need to find the right FDR for your motor (you don't mention which make?)

For a 5.5t you do not need to have many changes on speedo, changing turbo timing etc...could melt you speedo or motor, usually, standard setup if preferable to start running mod (no timing) then change very gently and check motor heat (very important) every 1.5/2 mn

Looking at the specs for the SC8 120A HobbyWing controller, it's only rated at 6000kv max for 2 cell LiPo which is about 7.5 - 8.5 turn equivalent. Running a 5.5 turn motor is probably not a good idea with this controller as it can't put out the Amps needed for a 5.5 turn motor.

FDR means Final Drive Ratio

Spur Gear / Pinion x Internal Drive Ratio

To change the "Punch" feature

I don`t be leave that m8,Seeing the fact for fiction,that this motor originally Dos max 4000kv,and came with a 60Amp ESC. witch is harf the amps of the sc8 and can use a 2 cell lipo on the 60Amp,too produce 4000kv,But runs hotter.This is the max a 5.5turn can do at 2 cell lipo 4000kv.In the stats for the ESC controller...The setup on a 60amp with 5.5t is..With 4-6 cells NiMH/NiCd or 2 cells Lipo: On-Road 5.5T, Off-Road 8.5T 4000kv;
With 6-9 cells NiMH/NiCd or 3 cells Lipo: On-Road 8.5T, Off-Road 13T around 3000kv; the Short corse 8 would be around the same But more Amps.(witch is allways better)
The sc8 has more than enough power than the old 60Amp esc. What i`m saying is..60amp is just enough too power 5.5t 2 cell lipo at max 4000kv,Where 120Amp same or deal..But the chance too cause over heating is lesser than 60Amp.But 4000kv is dam fast. Not slow,But setting it up for this max is hard that`s why i need some tweaking Advice .

Just stating the manufacturers specs.

2 cell 6000kv or less
3 cell 4000kv or less
4 cell 3000kv or less

I can barely understand most of your post but originally you stated a 5.5 turn (not 4000kv) motor which is generally around the 6900kv - 7500kv range which is outside the suggested motor limit for that ESC.

Edit: I'm assuming your using this in a 1/10th or 1/8th off-road vehicle but since this is the on-road section I'm not so sure. What car are you using, gearing, battery?

yep got lost half way up your post

to get help we need more details, SC8 is more of a 1/8th scale speedo, and I do not believe either that your speedo will take a 5.5t, which is a limit "hot" motor.

I'm going to disregard your comments for a moment

I'm assuming the 5.5 turn motor is from the HobbyWing XERUN 60Amp for 1/10th cars.

http://www.hobbywing.com/english/Art...?ArticleID=448

This Controller is made for 1/10th on-road and off-road cars and is rated for 5.5T motor in 1/10th scale applications.

The SC8 is designed for Short Course & 1/8th applications which require much more torque than 1/10th scale which is why they are only rated to 6000kv or less for 2 cell 7.4V & 4000kv or less for 3 cell 11.1V.

http://www.hobbywing.com/english/Art...?ArticleID=471

The lower turn a motor (higher kv) the less torque the motor has (more rpm though) so a low turn (high kv) rated motor is not good for vehicles that require a lot of torque like 4wd Short Course and 1/8th scale.

The HobbyWing SL-3650 5.5 turn motor is rated at 6000kv which is less than most 5.5 motors are. For example Novak Ballistics are rated at 7400kv. You didn't state which motor in your original post so I assumed a normal industry standard rating of around 7000+kv.

http://www.hobbywing.com/english/Art...?ArticleID=425

So the HobbyWing 5.5T is rated at the maximum for the SC8 controller. If you want to get more top speed out of your truck, you are going to sacrifice lots of Torque. You will want to change your gearing with either a larger pinion or smaller spur gear and you can also increase the "Punch" setting on your the SC8. All of this puts your motor & controller at risk of over heating and damaging them so you need to monitor temperatures. More than 160*C on your motor is not good. The SC8 has overheating protection, make sure that is is enabled and cooling fans would be a good idea.

mAh means milli-Amp-hours and is a measurement of capacity for batteries.

I hope that clears things up for you
