On another note... Does anyone have a recommendation on a 1S lipo? $60 for a one cell is hard to swallow when I'm paying $34.99 for GOOD 2S packs...
Turnigy from Hobby King makes a great cheap battery 1s. 24.00 Not Roar approved though!

my rm-01 is running painfully slow, has the following

SP GT2.0 EX
SP 17.5 motor
Thunderpower 5000mah li-po
Stock Spur gear
21 tooth pinion.

My f104 has a 17.5t motor and it flys compared to my rm-01. the rm-01 even seems slow when you just run it while holding it off the ground. Any suggestions?

What is your roll out? If you are using 3.7v Lipo, most 12th guys running 17.5t run big pinions and small spur gears.

Think 80mm roll out

to be honest I'm a bit lost when it comes to that. The tyres are 53mm in diameter if that hepls and the spur is 66 teeth. Yep 3.7V li-po. Are these cars as quick on a 1-cell battery as a car with the same motor on a 2-cell battery?

Thats a 53mm roll out, it wants to be about 75-110mm range for 17.5 depending on track layout..

That's about a 30 to 40 tooth pinion for those size tires.

Jim.

Tire diameter x 3.14 x pinion / spur = roll out.

14mph is your top speed at the moment
27mph is your top speed with 40 tooth pinion and 17.5t blinky.

If you were to switch to 2S which isn't race legal by the way with a 40t pinion you'd be looking at 54mph.

Btw these are theoretical top speeds, not to be taken as gospel.

The stock spur is meant for 6.6v, not 3.7v
Voltage has a major effect on RPM

You need a 78t 64p Spur
And pinions in the mid 40s for indoor tracks, and low to mid 50s for larger outdoor tracks

You are WAY under geared

Gearchart.com is your friend for easy roll-out charts
