Default Help with HPI Sprint

Ok I'm new and I searched*before this and looked in the rockie zone.
I bought an HPI Sprint from my buddy that he got from a friend for his son, neither of them know anything about Rc cars. I got it with no shell,it has the full carbon body and a new Tazer 12T ESC. I found out how to set it but the remote is a Jr xr2. I read about the settings for it in some threads. I can't get it to go * *BUT shouldn't the car be able to roll when it's turned off ? *Or no? Because it's hard to push and to spin the big gear that spins the motor!

When the pinion gear (on the motor) is meshed to the spur gear there may be some resistance to moving the car. You should be able to turn the motor over by hand though.

Try taking off the pinion (or moving the motor away from the spur), the car should then roll freely.

If it won't go at all it's more likely a problem with the electrics than a problem with the drivetrain. Check the battery is charged and everything is wired and set up correctly.

What's the best way to bench test the motor?

With a brushed motor you can connect it directly to a battery pack.

Ok the motor works great and all the belts and wheels. So I guess now its the remote settings because the ESC is new and easy to set.
