Was this oval racing or something? Usually there is a chance to take a corner and force a pass without disaster being the result. I race against a guy who isn't that fast but either cant or is unwilling to just let you go past, and I mean no disrespect as he is a good guy otherwise, but if I come around and I am not comfortable with how fast I have gone to that point, I give him three corners to move over and then I set it up to take the inside line and force the issue. Sometimes we bump, but thats racing.

Best answer yet.

I'd have stopped and waited for him to come around, and the first time he whined about me holding him up, I'd give him the "illusion" that I was letting him by, and then "accidentally" punt him into the board.

I don't understand how anyone can think there's any sort of justification for crying about being pressured in qualifying. If someone's faster than you GET THE HELL OUTTA THE WAY. If he was on a pace to beat your TQ by a second, and he gives up .2 letting you go on the straight, he should still TQ by .8 right?

And congrats on the win Von.

First this thread rules

Second I'm gonna extreme quote because of how much it rules...lol

i was following this guy for the whole 6mins
i was faster then him..(i mean i kept pulling up to his bumper & backed off).. but i stayed back because i was waiting on him to mess up
he got mad @ me because he said i was too close to him in the whole qualifier
so i stayed behind him & let him take TQ
SOOO did i do the right thing...or should i have went on & passed him
he took TQ but i won the main

hope y'all understand this
He was bullying you

Some people don't care if their slower or in the way they just want to win at any cost and in a game where we're sharing the track with 9 other drivers that is unsportsmanlike and ultimately shows that he is not the driver you are but can't admit it so he is not respectful

Ultimately he slowed you both down by not giving you the slightest room to get by. My comment when racing is "Just give me one foot" meaning you don't have to park it for me to get by you just have to go outside one foot so I can continue at the pace I am, blah blah blah...lol

Someone is using ethics here...lol

And it is always a better (real) win when you do IMHO

Respect a faster racer at all times, let him go, and when you get to be the faster guy another day , they will also show you the same respect , and let you by !!!!! If that racer still doesn't get it, then he will surely receive the BK red carpet treatment !!!!!!
True that It's in letting the faster driver get by that we get to watch their lines and match their faster pace

Hopefully we don't get too crazy over toy car racing...lol...

No R/C car drive by's

actually if you were faster, then the real issue is with your RD for not asking (telling) him to move over.

but being nice has its rewards too, I remember at reedy I asked one guy if he could move to his left a little so i could fit where I was standing all week on the drivers stand, he got all uppity and said no, I TQ'd that heat and was sure to thank him for being a dick, its more fun that way.

I'm sure your main win was a little bit more rewards because of him
Dude it sounds like your the bigger man and if you care those around you can only have respect for you for not getting too serious and using the more ZEN outlook in racing toy cars

Yea in imfar starts (separate start/finish times) your not really even racing each other, indeed your racing the clock which is why I like ifmar protocol and logically no reason for slower car to not pull over

If I had a nickel for everyone that just wanted to block so I couldn't catch the leaders I'd have like $4.20

All I can say in end is that when I used to race at Campbell (Old outdoor norcal track near san jose) and someone wouldn't let us by we termed that person as being a jamcar

Qualifying isn't a reason to ignore sportsmanship.

Actions like that have a habit of catching up with guys in the main.

its kinda a unwritin rule at our track because of the ifmar qualifing. when the faster guys on you you go a little wide and let him by! but theres still those guys that will try and race with you even when there getting lapped! in the mains you race for it! ill follow a guy for as long as i have to and then pass! if they are a lap down and try and race with me ill move em! if im gettin caught from behind in qualifing ill tell the guy where im goin wide so he has plenty of time to go by me!
