Default Different Carpet Foams

I race on a carpet track using foams tires. Im getting tired of spending $40 on a set of foams such as Jaco 28mm's. I was browsing rctech and noticed some "other" foams. Such as Ellegi's, speedmind, and Power Tyres. I also noticed Jaco Nitro shoes, but I'm staying away from them for various reasons.

So how would these different foams compare to Jaco's on a carpet track? Would they provide the similar grip?

thanks,
Paul

Default foam tires

Paul $40.00 a set seems very high, what hobby shops are you buying from? You can use Elligi and many other brands in a shore rating that fits your set-up, the one thing i would do is CA glue the outer edge of the front tires. As for the Jaco's they manufacture carpet specific tires that are of the highest quality as does TRC.

Jamie, I buy foams from my LHS in Long Island. They are $19 a pair plus tax.

Now are the Ellegi's the same foam as Jaco?
What would be the approximate shore's of orange/pruple and purple (42,40)?

Out of what you listed, i think that the Speedmind is the best bang for the buck...fastest tires i ever ran, and cheapest in the store most of time.

Try Parma tires. They work great on carpet. Kt Hobbies was selling them for 15.99 a pair on another thread.

Ive been browsing Kt hobbies, and Speedtech. Both have reasonable prices but the shipping makes it the same price for what I get them for.

I think im gonna order from www.shopping.rcmodel.com.hk and try some Speedmind foams. Does anyone know what thye charge for shipping?

How much glue do you apply to the outside of the front tires? I am having a real probelm with chunking the fronts on my TC3. I have to buy a new set of TRC plaids next week. Thanks.

I really don't think that any tire will compare to Jaco or TRC (CRC is a great choice too for 1/12) on carpet. If you want to race competitively, that's what you run. For the $3-4.00 you could save per 4 tires by going with another brand is just not worth it. At least on my track the Speedminds and Parma's are not even close. Now the Ellegi's might be a different story. I have not run these but just because they make a great ashpalt tire does not mean they will make a good carpet tire.
