Default more Q's

I do like the idea of running more qualifiers and less practices. If this option is chosen, then I still think the mains should still be established according to the best single qualifier's result. That way, those who are not keen on all runs being counted as qualifiers can still consider a few of their qualifiers as R&D opportunities. No matter which format is chosen, I would also suggest that the order be re-shuffled every other round. Gradually, the cream will rise to the top. Thanks Ian for always trying to improve the event.

1 round of controlled practice to get the computer straight, then go to qualifying. That would be awesome.

I'm sure someone will find a loophole, but thought this was a great idea when Scotty did this a few years back for either the Novak race or Vegas. Typically, one of the best things about the 'later rounds' is that everyone is sorted and racing to win their heat, which is then a close battle in almost every one. Better for racers and spectators (who are mostly racers) alike, IMO. And even the announcer will have a ton more excitement to report on.

Keep up the good work.

Yep, Ian, this is a great idea, take the best 3 or 5 laps from everyones "pratice runs" a set the heat board by that. it does work out well.

Just run them all as qualifiers. Practice is announced, run, scored and printed as qualifiers, just let them count. I understand that the tq of round 1 is not going to tq the race with that run, but it will still sort out the field.

Random heats.

6 quals

Shuffle after rounds 2, 4 and 5 (and 6 for the mains)

all of the above. seeding round and qual points are my vote.

I totally agree. practice is announced like its a qualifier anyway, so let it count.

Qualified? Who said I was qualified? I'm just old enough to run the 'seniors' now.

Hello Racers, I think last year they set the grid for first round by racers two best practice laps in a row. so it can work. with this format of all qualifiers makes for more RESORTS and that makes better racing for us the racer. i like it, Ron H,

Default Seeding

Just thinking... But, I don't think seeding based on 2-5 laps would serve the purpose, especially considering open esc. Set your esc on meltdown, and away you go -- which potentially favors some brands over others. Last years 2 lap deal really didn't work anyway, as "tech" was pretty much missing yet at that point.

It might work out best with 1 round of practice to get the track, racers, computer, AND tech set, with baseline seeding determined by prior years finish (with reshuffles along the way during qualifying as is normally done).

Just posted some inspirational footage from the 2006 US Indoor Champs at www.rcraces.com in the Video Vault. This is the 1/12th mod a-main from that year, and it's pretty darn exciting. All the big names were there. You can download it for the utmost quality, or see it on YouTube, which isn't bad either. And yes, that is our man Ian doing the play by play. Just a taste of what you can experience if you attend the 2011 US Indoor Champs.

Thanks!!! And that's why I love ya Mr. Skillman!!!

This year, we're gonna go 1 practice, and then 6 quals!!! As for seeding, we're still debating using last year's overall vs. 5 fastest laps. I prefer last year's overall because it makes repeat attendance a definite incentive..................
