Wasn't R/C Car magazine supposed to be the big sponsor of the Reedy Race this year? You'd think they'd have some sort of coverage online... hah

Futureal: see there in rest their problem. The RC print industry has to balance how much info they give away free on-line and how much they make us pay for. If R/C Car was there and a major sponsor, their probably saving their coverage for the next issue!

R/C Car has had some great coverage of the Reedy Race in the past. So I can't wait until their issue with this years coverage comes out.

But, come on man. Somebody on-line should have had somekind of coverage from the race. Most people probably don't even know the race took place!

Being purely an on-line magazine does give us the advantage of getting stuff into "print" quicker than a print publication. Look for more pics and video tonight and look for an Interview with Barry Baker along with a look under the hood of his car tomorrow.

Thanks go out to Fred and all the guys at Tamiya for putting on such a terrific race. We now have the results from Tamiya as well and have just posted an interview with Barry Baker.

If you want good coverage and pictures from the races, then just request the hobbyshops to send me... ... remember the Snowbirds race? digital pics, videos and everything right from the race- all from a one man show- and I raced too!!! lol

Just a thought....

As a correction to the A3 Open Mod A Main. Brent Thielke did not finish second. Derek Furutani did.

Figured Derek would like that to be corrected.

Nice to see the top 5 cars all AE. Well, ok, the 4th (Thad) is running the 'AE-Like' car.

Yea Tony I noticed that too. Kind of sweet that I was in the "A" and "B" main huh... I made the main 3 out of 4 ways, alas they used the way I didn't make it. Ohh well.

These are the two ways I see to calculate the mains.

Using the throw out round as a tie breaker the results look like this:

1) Swanson = 200
2) Furutani = 197 (Throw Out Round = 96)
3) Desrosiers = 197 (Throw Out Round = 95)
4) Phalen = 196 (Throw Out Round = 94)
5) Garner = 196 (Throw Out Round = 92)
6) Cartwright = 193
7) Brown = 191
8) Losi = 190
9) Cavilarai = 188
10) Garvey = 186

And if you use times (like they did for qualifying) as the tie breaker it looks like this:

1) Swanson = 200
2) Desrosiers = 197 (42 5:17.33)
3) Furutani = 197 (42 5:20.86)
4) Phalen = 196 (42 5:20.71)
5) Garner = 196 (42 5:23.40)
6) Cartwright = 193
7) Brown = 191
8) Losi = 190
9) Cavilarai = 188
10) Garvey = 186

AM I MISSING SOMETHING HERE?!?

I dont' like your way....heh heh

I'm not sure how they did this. We were told the top 3 were official. There was a 4 way tie for second after the final main, and that was one of the big problems. Not sure if what's posted is correct or not.

I found these results straight from Tamiya's website.

pos t.pts e.pts 1st 2nd 3rd laps/time name
1 200 0 .... 100 100 0 62/10:15.29 ANDREW SWANSON
2 197 95 .... 95 99 98 62/15:17.01 ERIC DESROSIERS
3 196 94 .... 94 96 100 62/15:22.74 TONY PHALEN
4 196 92 .... 99 97 92 57/14:31.26 THAD GARNER
5 194 0 .... 96 98 0 42/10:24.95 DEREK FURUTANI
6 193 94 .... 98 94 95 61/15:18.02 ANDREW CARTWRIGHT
7 191 93 .... 93 95 96 61/15:22.34 JEFF BROWN
8 190 93 .... 97 93 93 61/15:28.91 GIL LOSI JR
9 188 91 .... 91 91 97 61/15:27.90 RYAN CAVALIER
10 92 0 .... 92 0 0 20/5:06.88 MARC GARVEY

So who were the 4? It seems like they didn't catch that "glitch" with Derek.

I don't know...Everything was running really smooth until the mains. I was in line for the mod "B" and the spec "B" was on the line and they go ahead and tell one of the guys that he really qualified for the "A". It just seems like whoever was in charge of the computer system wasn't really prepared. But all in all this was probably the coolest race I've ever been to. Can we sign up for next year yet?

The results are wrong. I emailed scotty already, but dont' have freds email. They never included Derek's 3rd a main. They used that as a throw out instead of his. I did the math, looks like he got third. And they didn't count Garvey's last 2 mains. HURTING yes.

How did everyone like the tire issue with the pre-mounted set-up?
I enjoyed the race much more than the last 2 years. I think this is the only way the control tire will work, if you guys didn't already think so.

Also, the no one-way rule? What do you think?

The track was great. Wish I could race there all the time.

cornerspeed:
The premounted tires rock! They work well, last long enough, and were priced right. No more friggin H13's and unobtainable inserts.

The no 1-way rule sure made the invitational class more exciting. but the people in the lower classes still haven't figured out what brakes are yet.

Scotty was a godsend - I wonder what our chances are of getting him to relocate to So-cal

The Tamiya track was gorgeous and prepped nicely. Perfect weather helps too...no more 100+ degrees at Ripon.
