Default Radio questions

What have your experiences been with the "synthesized"/crystal-less transmitters/receivers? I'm getting back into the hobby after a several year (like, 12 year) absence. My initial intent was to use my beloved old 27MHz Futaba Magnum Senior but it's my understanding that all the "kiddie cars" etc are now on 27 because it's generally less expensive. Back in the day 27 was great because very few folks (at least locally) used it and it was (supposedly) less succeptible to glitching. Now it kind of sounds like a quick ticket to frequency conflict due to the limited number of channels.

Synthesized--yes or no?

27MHz or 75MHz? Why? Is one really more resistant to glitching? On the surface, especially using synthesis, it really seems to favor the more channels available on 75.

Recommended radio? I was always delighted with my good ol' Futaba, but I'm leaning toward the Airtronics M8 with the Novak module and receivers. Thoughts?

Many many thanks in advance. This synthesis thing sounds too good to be it?

used to use a JR XS3.

found it very convienient and easy to change between the channels and you could also get a large freq. gap between the nearest person (less chance off glitching)

I use the JR XS3 as well. no problems to date. I really enjoy being able to switch channels with the turn of a button, I hated waiting for "my" radio clip during practice.
