I know I can tighten the ball diff and make it a solid rear, which is good, do you have a parts number or location I can find the ball diff, a brief search came up with something from R2 hobbies but that does not look like a standard ball diff to me

Is this the only option for solid rear axle or are there others?

Thanks
spool or take the balls out and replace w/thin cardboard ring=-instant slipper spool

Whoa that went over my head. I have never actually used/worked with a ball diff, ive only seen them and actually own one for a ta06 but never used it and dont plan on using it.

What did you mean by spool? I dont want a slipper style setup I want it to be a rigid/solid rear, why wouldnt I just make the ball diff tight as all get out?

There is a spool. 3 racing calls it a solid axle. you will need the solid axle, outdrives, and the pulley for the belt. It fits up front so it should be fine in the rear as well. You can use the existing rear axles but I would recommend getting rid of the dog bones and go with the cv drives.

hi guys,

I'm looking at this XI, but there's no LHS in our country that carry parts, what are the parts that will most likely break or wear out fast that need replacements? Or i can use tamiya parts and not to worry?
New with touring cars, and thanks for any help i can get.

So what your saying is I will need to buy 2 of these...
http://compare.ebay.com/like/3606203...Types&var=sbar

A set of these...
http://www.integy.com/st_prod.html?p...20&p_catid=326
or could I use the ones that come with the kit?

and one of these...
http://www.integy.com/st_prod.html?p...37&p_catid=326

I dont have the XI, I have the XI Sport, it comes with universal drive shafts in all 4 corners.

Please let me know if I am correct or what I actually should be getting if im not.

Thank You

You only need one solid axle spool. (First item you listed)

I don't think the out drive cups come in the kit. they are different from the ones used in the gear diffs. (Second item you listed)

Correct on one pulley.

Ok so the solid axle for the rear and the out drive cups and pulley are all correct. Great!
How are the outdrive cup pins held in place though?

Also I want a front one way, so wouldnt I need two of the axle spools, one for the front and one for the rear?

The pins rest under the bearing so they can't come out.

Im not sure on the one way. haven't used one of those yet. Sorry.

Why could'nt I just get two of these, if like you said the front fits on the rear, I know it says for the zero but it does fit the XI for sure...

I got my answer, because then I wouldn't have reverse if I wanted to use it.

Beyond that, has anyone had any issues with belts breaking?

Anyone still on the Xi and Xi d.h. ?

I am still driving these and am curious about the coming indoor events and how the Xi d.h. can perform this season. Last year I got the problem that i lost too much cornering speed along with less steering through the whole corner. Anyone got ideas on how to solve this?
