Smallest spur is 60t. You do have to drill the holes for the spur gear holder though. That would let you get up to something like 40ish pinion.
Or a 65 is the smallest that will actually fit, no drilling.

To get more room you can use the motor mount root from a zero vertical motor mount, or dremel the XI mount. Either way will get you a few extra teeth on the pinion.

Problem solved tho when the new motor mount comes in

Thanks for the setup tips. I do like the MM32, but sorex 36 at edgie (maitland) is maybe just a bit better. It was also cheaper as a bulk price. I have a set of MM32 to run at castle hill tonight.

ride height and so forth, I run that because the track is very bumpy in places, and as it is my chassis does get scraped quite a bit. Same reason for the shock oil. Faster guys are even softer with the oil in their cars, around 30wt. The diff even with 50wt oil can be difficult on corner exit if im to aggressive. And when I first got the car my choice was 2000wt kit (I tried that first), or 50wt shock being the thickest I had. Even 3 racings diff building guide was using 40wt?

I still have a lot of things I'd like to try, springs included.

Is your droop advice a mm amount, or a gauge reading?

My car is now built and ready for its first run tomorrow on tarmac. I have used the set up in the back of the manual as a starting point.

I ran my new X1 at my local track Wombwell today, as the day went on I got the car handling better from being tail happy to very stable qualified 5th in the A and finished 2nd less than a second behind. So all in all not a bad day for a first time out, the car had not even touched tarmac before the practice session which is limited and only got about 5 laps in before the first race.
First thoughts are the car is quick with a lot of potential as I get the set up more refined but being the only car in this area I know of it will take a bit of time to find the sweet spot on set up.

Heard back from 3 Racing these are due out in April, they don't have an eta on the motor mount.

The new XI DH version is due out at the end of the month. Not sure if the car will have the split blocks and new motor mount

Perhaps for more flex? I accidentally ran my car with all the rear deck screws loosened after a pinion change. I couldn't understand why the car felt so good or why it was making a funny clicking sound when changing direction.

If I've gotta buy a new chassis, deck, suspension blocks and motor mount... I'm almost there for a new car... That suggestion didn't go down well with the wife though. lol

I've read this thread through and I've seen a lot of people are using this car with 17.5's etc, but how does it go with a good mod motor?

I've been keeping an eye on the XI for a while and its basically a choice between it and the AE 6.1... leaning slightly to the XI as its available locally and I can used my TRF shocks etc with it

i have raced the xi all winter in 17.5 boosted and i have been struggeling with to little traction in the rear, have tested alot of different things but didnt get any good feeling/balance

changed to a tc6.1 and it has more traction all around out of the box, plus that it has TONS more of steering compared to the xi, i was faster from with the tc6.1 from the 1st pack on the track

looking at quality the carbon fibre and aluminium is slightly better on the sakura, but the plastic in the suspension parts breaks quite easlily even in mild crashes
and the xi looks cooler with the pink coloured parts

i would choose tc6.1 if i were you, you wont be sorry!

Springs I cant help with running +4 towers with TRFs. Couldnt make the car nice with the original gear.

Should mention that was with 17.5 boosted.
Right, just dropped ride height to 5.5 front and 6 rear, but will try dropping to 5.0 5.5 tomorrow at the track to see how it goes as well. On your advice I dropped the amount of droop now (on my gauge it reads as rear 4 front 5) to 2mm rear and 1.5mm front.

Will see how well it goes
