The TA04R is still a good car, as long as you have a good setup for it.

Would you know how much is the running price of the Ta04r considering that it has a motor, no electronics, no battery but the suspension is hopped up with metal parts.

Anyone have any links for TA-04 set-ups. It seems like all the ones I find are dead.

Check out
The RC Racer

There are a lot of TA04 articles from this year with set-up sheets as it was used to win a Vintage race series. (Iconic Cup)

40wt oil front and rear
Tamiya whites up front mounted all the out on the shock tower/ Tamiya blues rear mounted 2nd to last hole from the top on the shock tower

I use the metal suspension blocks in the rear which gives the car 1 degree at the blocks and use the 2 degree rear uprights which gives the car a total of 3 degrees in the rear. Longest links mounted on the graphite shock towers

I also use the graphite top deck with the tub chassis. Shorty packs balance the car out amazingly. 2 degrees camber all around. I rarely use the car nowadays. But I dusted it off for the Tamiya race in Fresno this year. Missed TQ each round by 1 second. Car was surprisingly competitive. The tech crew allowed me to use a TB04 gear diff in the rear and a evo5 spool in the front. But a one way and ball diff will still work great

And blue sway bars front and rear

Thanks for the info.

Juan,
What gear did you use with the evo-5 spool. I had to use the a one-way gear from a HPI pro2 because the holes didn't line up on the 04 one-way gear (it's mated to a tb-03 spool). Was the tb-04 gear diff a direct drop in?

I'm using the car for VTA so using non TCS legal parts isn't a problem.
