Default HPI Rs4 electric conversion help..

Hey..

Friend gave me a pretty beat up rs4...and I made it a project to bring it back to life..in electric form (was nitro)...without spending over $50 (Had the electronics, motor mount got on sale..)..

AND..here's the problem...is there anyway to get that pinion to reach the spur gear?

I searched around and found something like this..but it's the wrong size bore for the motor shaft (Castle's 4 pole 5700 is 1/8" I believe)..

http://www.caswellplating.com/buffs/shaft.htm

With some recent efforts..I got the pinion even closer..

While posting this..I might try flipping the spur gear around..if that works..other wise..I still think i'd be about 1/2 an inch short..

Motor mount will not come anymore forward unless I hack away at it..

So..any thoughts?

Thanks!

I've thought of doing this to mine. The key would be a custom central motor mount.

The pinion is a RR 25t 32p pinion.

Think might have to go with hacking the mount..
But..is there a motor shaft extender, or something of the sorts?

managed to flip the spur gear around to get it a little closer..

Is my gearing to high? Never had a onroad car..let alone a belted electric conversion...(25/39) <---gearing.

and would 1 2200mah 45c lipo provide enough amps for the 4 pole 5700castle system I have? Thats the biggest battery I can run..If I have to..I could run 2 in parallel..

Hey, I am starting this same exact project on the same car, where did you get the motor mount? I will keep you posted on my progress and post some pics later.

Im actually done now! Just waiting one one belt..and thats it..

It's a tekno motor mount (You can find it on tekno's site..amain has it too)..mine is made for castle cans..

Also, combined with a tekni long shank pinion (need a bore reducer as well), the pinion meets up with the spur.

awsome, how did you go about flipping the spure gear? also besides the tekno motor mount what else did you have to buy?

Also not sure if you did it on purpose but the belt tensioner on the side is on wrong, the belt is suppose to go under the bearings it rides on.

Hmm..if I remember correctly..I bought the tekno mount, (had to shave the holes alittle bit for the screws that hold the mount to the chassis to adjust gear mesh). And I bought a 5mm bore reducer and tekno's long shank pinions. Otherwise, that's really it..

Trying to find a battery tray that's less then 100m now..

I am curious how you got the spur gear to the other side, I am trying to shift things around but I cant figure out how to get it to stay in place and engage. Was yours a two speed nitro?

how did it turn out? I am curious about your gearing and wondered how it all worked together.

brushless with two speed = sweet.

aftermarket companies should take notes.

don't remember the drive ratio of those belts but you can do some math. 25 pinion and 39 tooth spur is pretty tall, you final drive ratio might be around 6.5...
