Default Can someone help identify this RC for me?

I just bought an RC car at a flea market but it's missing the battery. It's not just like a AA battery or anything, but it's a special battery pack and I can't figure out what kind it is :/

It's a Porsche 911 GT2, and on the bottom there's a sticker that says
GP GREAT POWER
MODEL: 60-8966
Canada 210

Thanks!

You identified it yourself. A Great Power Porsche 911 GT2. It's a toy you will probably never find parts for.

If you want people to help with the battery, you should take a picture of the connector and the battery compartment. 4 pictures all of the outer shell doesn't really help.

First off...Welcome to the hobby and the forum here.

After a little Google search I came up with this.

http://stores.allenallenmotorspeedwa...%29/Detail.bok

They make a few others as well. Details list it using a standard 540 size motor, and a 7.2 volt battery. Most likely has a standard Tamiya style plug on it.

Others they make.

Did this come with a charger? Most likely a wall-charger? If it did, all you will need is a battery, if not you will need a charger as well.

I would try looking for a local hobby shop in your area. They should be able to get you up and running. You may be able to find something at Radio Shack as well.

I assume this is your first rc car?

Here is good first battery and charger if you need go shop online.

These would be a nice cheap and goof proof way to see if you like the hobby and would like to later on get something better.

Of course your local hobby shop should have similar stuff as well.

If you have any other questions, just ask. Myself or someone else should be able to help.

Holy Jeeze you found that fast D:
I searched for an uneccesary amount of time and only found other Porsche 911 GT2 rc cars that didn't look anything like mine. I took some pictures of the bottom so maybe you'll recognize the battery type. You can see the three leads are in weird places :/
It is my first RC car, and I got it for a steal because there was no battery or charger :P
Can I ask you how you found that? I googled my heart out, and searched almost all of the stickers on the car to try and figure out the model number :P

Hmmm, that does have a strange battery compartment. That may be a bit harder to find. It's for sure a toy grade rc along the lines of new bright, tyco etc. The battery I posted a link to will not fit.

I will see if I can find any more info tomorrow. I am off to work soon. I work third shift.

As for finding the links I did on google, I did a search for the Great Power Porsche GT2 RC.

5th result down.

I took it to a couple places, even a specialty battery store. They didn't have what I needed :/ I'm pretty sure they said something about New Bright, but but all I definitely know is that I to fashion a battery of that sort would cost over $100, way out of my price range.

It should be possible to convert it to a plug and make a pack to fit in the compartment. Looks like a 6 cell AA style pack would fit in there. Pack could be made pretty cheap, under $20 for sure. All you would need would be a compatible charger. All depends on how much you are willing to spend on the little car. But it may be easier to just pick up something else that has everything you need.

Well would it be hard to convert it? I don't know much about that stuff, but I'm sure if I had an online tutorial and the materials are easy to find I'd be able to do it. I live in a small town so all I really have for RC cars are what they have at Wal Mart. The current battery the car is suppose to have a 7.2V NiCD 1700mAh rechargeable. If you know how to make another battery for it, I would be happy to learn if you'd be willing to teach.
