Default The future of RC?

http://www.spektrumrc.com/

Looks pretty amazing... dunno if I like the idea of holding a 2.4GHz transmitter that close though.

What is DSM?

DSM is Digital Spectrum Modulation—a purely digital RF link between transmitter and model that is based on Direct Sequencing Spread Spectrum technology. It operates within the ultra-high 2.4GHz worldwide ISM band, provides unequalled signal resolution, and is immune to the most common forms of RF interference. It will even allow your model to “talk” back to you. It requires no crystals and completely frees you from ever having to monitor frequency usage again. Best of all, with Spektrum’s DSM System you can literally plug this phenomenal technology into existing transmitters like the JR R-1 and Airtronics M-8.

DSM System Basics
Eliminates the need to monitor frequency usage
Immune to the most common forms of RF interference
Uses 2.4GHz ISM frequency accepted worldwide
Purely digital RF link
DSM transceiver can send data back to the user
Built-in fail-safe technology
Ultra-fine 4,096 step resolution
No crystals or complex modifications necessary
Works with existing 3-channel module-based transmitters

I think the future of RC will be bleak...... it's gonna be replace by personal RC home simulator. Everyone could connect together through internet and race simultaneously.

In the future, people are spending more time at home ( working, sleeping, playing, etc) because energy will be scarce and become alarmingly expensive in future. No more oil, No cars..... perhaps only the rich who could afford cars.

So guys... enjoy your life now.

I know someone that's already testing it on an M8 with an 8th scale nitro buggy and as far as I know he hasn't had any problems. The antenna is like 3-4" tall and a bendable whip style, no more breaking the 30" antenna and hitting people with it. Not sure if it would make production or not. Haven't talked to him in a couple of months.

I think this next year will bring the RC community a lot of new advances in technology. I can't wait!

I don't think its a matter of if, or when they will go into production........A buddy of mine already has one on order for his JR through Horizon.

I think it's a great advancement.

Question now is which ESC is going to be the first to relay telemetry back to the tx? Which TX will be the first to allow that?

How is the response time? I hope it doesn't feel sluggish.

but then people buy the ex-10 helios (using it as an example because i have one) for things like the high resposnse speed etc.

the HRS only works with the kr302f reciever so fitting one of these to your helios would defeat the whole point in why you bought the transmitter in the first place.

just an example of problems that could occur...i dont think it would sell that well.

Actually, they address response time in their FAQ.

They indicate that a normal FM system operates between 12ms and 18ms in response time....

Their system operates at 5.6ms....quite a bit faster me thinks.
