Did not know where else to post it. You can also turn your 2wd Slash into an onroad racer. I think the chassis might be looking familiar to SNR

current top speed 105km/h = 65 mph

I have converted my Team C TS2 Short Course to GT8 / Rallygame.

I used Hot Racing 17mm hex adapters, TeamC GT8L bumpers and Gmade XD diaphragm shocks. The body is DeltaPlastik Focus RG.

here's couple of pics of my car.

Default 1/10 Traxxas Rally to GT8 Lite

Hey Guys,
Just got a Traxxas Rally and converted it to a GT8 Lite.

I got a set of Revo shocks but way too stiff. Not knowing I bought the 4.1, 4.4, 4.9, 5.4, 5.9, 6.4 rate springs

Any suggestions for Suspension set up?

I'm currently running:
  • Stock shocks & piston with 100Wt oil
  • Limiters in the shocks to give 5mm droop
  • The +20 Traxxas Springs all around
  • 3S battery w / stock electronics
  • 50T Spur & 16T Pinion
  • Center Diff with 100K oil
  • Front Diff with 100K oil
  • Real Diff has 50K oil
  • Protoform body
  • Ofna Yellow foam tires

I'm running at Mikes Gulf Coast Raceway
Which is a High Speed fast track.

I only have 2 batteries through the car so still trying to get it dialed in. Right now the little 1/16 Rally cars are smoking me. LOL

Pic in stock trim and
Pic in trim items listed above.

Thanks!

I've been thinkin about building up a GT8 lite car based on a Traxxas Rally for a while now. For some reason, I just can't seem to bring myself to hit the BIN button on eBay for a roller. I'm starting to wonder if if another 4x4 SCT chassis might be a better idea. I'm also considering an AE SC10 4x4 or maybe even a Losi SCTE. What do you guys think? Anybody try this out with an AE or Losi yet? I really want to stick with a lighter chassis so I can use 550 size motors on 2S lipo.

Anyone try using the sc10 as a base for the gt8 conversion?

I opted for the Traxxas Rally (orver the New Slash 4X4) mainly because of the front bumper. I like this set up for 4 main reasons

1. Super lightweight
2. Very Tough & parts are easy to get
3. I think the best set up for an Electric GT-8
4. Inexpensive. About 1/2 of what any other GT-8E would cost

I've made a few changes and gotten it dialed in. This car / set up is super easy to drive and FAST on this big Track!

I think the easiest economical and best set up is:

- XO-1 shocks off of eBay $15
- 3S battery w / stock Traxxas electronics (ESC/Motor/Servo)
- 50T Spur & 16T Pinion
- Front Diff 100K oil / Center Diff 100K oil / Real Diff 50K oil
- Protoform GT8 body
- BSR 1/8th foam tires Rear XX pinks (BSRC8018) & Front 30 shore (BSRC8030)

This set up on our large track is turning faster laps than all of the nitro GT-8's

If you want to go crazy fast pick up a roller or change the electronics and put a Castle Creations 2650 motor & Castle MMP ESC in it run it on 3S or 4S.

Here is a video of it running with stock electronics 16T Pinion & 3S:

I own myself a traxxas rally GT8 light conversion, it is a blast to drive !

I made some modification:
- XO-1 shocks
- AKA 17mm adapters
- GRP 1/8 GT rally tyres
- Center diff
- Front and Rear sway bars
- Hobbywing SCT 4700kv motor
- Hobbywing WP SC8 ESC
- Ford Focus WRC body

In this configuration the car is faster than other GT8 nitro or brushless chassis on our fast outdoor asphalt RC track.

I have onwed previously many other 1/8 GT8 chassis and i can say i am really happy to have made this Traxxas rally conversion, because it is soo much lighter, using only 2S lipo instead of 4S lipo and it's really efficient on the track !

I have look to the Carisma M48S 959, but to me it looks very cheap and weak, in addition you can't fit standadrd 1/8 GT tyres on it ... so you still need to add 17mm adapters, in this conditions i think the traxxas rally is a better choice since it's a bullet proof car almost out of the box with a wide range and easy available parts and options.

Just my opinion.

Carsima is an unknown brand I will give you that. You're comparing a US based Chinese made product versus and outright Chinese made product by a Chinese company. Initially one would say, well the US based one is the better company, they have a reputation (albeit not that great of one)

However upon closer inspection, the Carsima comes with a highly detailed officially licensed Porsche 959 body... When was the last time Traxxas licensed anything. It is also "to scale" which again not many GT8s are with exception of bodies on the longer GT2 wheelbase.

Ok, i understand your point.

As for me, i am not into licensed body or scale looking body, in fact i really don't care about body or paint work, all i want is faster lap time and performance on the track.

So i think it's depands on the point of view and what your are into.
